Monthly test for POI shift and consistency(in mild wind)

EquivalentDelta, Evidently you haven't seen my "How accurate do you think this is for 100 yards in almost calm conditions?" post

Show us your squirrel gun for this season!

Firstgear, It's a Crown MK2 receiver(fill gauge and reg gauge are on the bottom) in a (partial)Saber Tactical chassis. I removed the front arca rail, rear buttpad, and bag rider from the chassis to make it lighter and improve handling. I bought several 160cc (Dreamline, I think?)tube...

300 pests down for my Atomic XR

Congrats, L.Leon! That .22 Atomic really suits you(and many others). A lot of pesting prowess in a compact package and it shoots cheap ammo(CPHPs) well too. Great shooting!

Finding the right pellet for my FX Crown

29 grain NSA are the best I've tried in my 600mm Crown also.

    Atomic XR… 14 more pest down…

Because of it's diminutive size and easy handling, it's an awesome "truck gun" also.

    Teds latest

Easiest way to "true up" Chairgun/Strelok Pro POI predictions when shooting at faster speed(when compared to predictions when shooting a slower speed) would have been to re-verify scope height info(by shooting a closer-than-zero target and comparing Chairgun predicted POI to actual) and then...

Any thoughts on the causes and fixes for these shot patterns?

Maybe try shooting 15 shots at the same point and measure to see if the y-axis and x-axis spreads are the same as when you move to shoot 15 in a horizontal row? Running a lightly tensioned string from the bench to the target can help identify any un-noticed wind also.

4-H Junior FT attempt a flop

SqrlHntr, Good of you to try and help out the kids. Sorry it didn't work out. Around here, 4-H has trap and skeet(using a shotgun to break flying clay targets) programs. I would think that would be a "reactive target", but maybe not. Perhaps they don't like FT targets that depict animals, idk...

    Slug flyers?

It's pretty normal for JSB KOs. If you try sorting a tin(by diameter and/or weight), the variability will be obvious. Tin to tin will vary also. Even when sorted, you still get flyers, just not as often. I've heard the MK2 KOs don't produce as many flyers, but haven't shot any yet.

    Brocock trigger safety

If the trigger is set too light, the safety won't function. Very fine adjustments on those tiny trigger group screws; 1/8 of a turn can make a lot of difference.

Question about "Christmas tree" style reticles

@steve123, Thanks for providing a specific example of when and how you use the dirty reticle shooting an airgun. I understand(and use them myself) using them for long range powderburner shots(because they are more accurate relative to MOA at distance, compared to airguns). When I shoot at 200 to...

Question about "Christmas tree" style reticles

Thanks for the input, guys. I understand(and have used) the "small" dirty reticles like the Aztec in @L.Leon's post(or the 3 or 4 holdover lines on a Hawk AMX reticle), but the larger Christmas tree style reticles(that go down to 10 mils or so) just seem like clutter. I guess my point is that...

Question about "Christmas tree" style reticles

With the increasing amount of "dirty" or "Christmas tree" style scope reticle offerings, I was just wondering how many people prefer them to clean reticles when shooting air rifles? Does anyone ACTUALLY USE(for example) a holdover dot that is 7 mil down and 5 mils to left/right when shooting air...

Multiple guns or 1 more adjustable rig?

Moondog, The fact that you are even considering needing multiple guns leads me to believe that in the future, YOU WILL own multiple guns. Sounds like you are a "right tool for the right job" kind of guy and you've been "bitten by the bug", as have many of us hear on the forum. One day you will...

Large BC Differences — Due to Barrel Differences? 🤔

Some of the info being discussed in this thread isn't practical(or useful) to some shooters, which is fine. I got into shooting pcp airguns in part, to try to replicate the fun of making(and calculating the ballistic solutions for) 500 -1000 yard shots using a powder burner(.308, .338 Lapua...

Large BC Differences — Due to Barrel Differences? 🤔

elh0102, I feel your pain too. I still pull out the springer from time to time just to have fun and plink like I did in my youth. I will respectfully(slightly) disagree with the statement that "we live in an age of too much information". While it can be taxing to wade through a mass of available...

Large BC Differences — Due to Barrel Differences? 🤔

Matthais, I feel your pain. Closer range/higher velocity/calm conditions/larger ammo/larger kill zone shots are a bit less finicky, but farther/slower/windier/smaller ammo, smaller KZs can expose any shortcomings in assumed data(accuracy, susceptibility to wind, etc...) or assumed accuracy(from...
