    Crushin' Prairie Dogs

I have a .22lr I built that is a ton of fun and accurate but I don't use it for anything I am feeding my hawks. Powder burners have more energy, causing the projectiles to fragment to a far greater extent than air rifles at half the energy. Raptors are highly susceptible to lead poisoning. A...

    Crushin' Prairie Dogs

I found them to expand a lot better for me than the hyrbrids. The hybrids were really accurate for me but expansion was absolute trash.

Those 29grs seem to group really well for me in my impact with a superior liner. I tried a bunch of other weights and brands and none really came close to these.

I'll take your word for it until I become a little braver.

    Crushin' Prairie Dogs

I'm a Falconer. I mainly do airguns in the off season since I don't fly/hunt my birds during time between late spring and early fall. I use them as food for my hawks in the off season so I don't have to buy food. I make sure to get anything that lead/lead fragments may have touched and discard...

Thanks! Wound up with 17 in the cooler, then I had to stop because the cooler lid wouldn't close.

    Crushin' Prairie Dogs

Took a short trip NW last weekend to pop some prairie dogs. Used my MKII .25 impact with Nielsen 29gr slugs, and .22 MKIII Wildcat Sniper shooting Nielsen 20.2gr slugs. Shots between 35-120yrds.

.22 FX Hybrid's...do they work for tough and furry critters?

"work" is relative. Here's pics from a squirrel I shot over the weekend. 47yrds. 950fps. Hybrid entered the chest cavity below the neck and stopped under the skin 1/2-2/3 of the way back. NO expansion. Pretty sad IMO. Nielsen's on the other hand have expanded VERY well for me.

    Spot and Stalk Crow

They are protected under the MBTA but there is a federal depredation order on blackbirds (this covers several species) where they are nuisances. That federal depredation order can be executed in various manners by the state. Some state do it by having an actual season. Other states don't have...

    Too tough squirrels

"...I don't believe..." Not being snarky, what research is this assertion based on? I ask because there is plenty of data to the contrary. In addition to being a firearm and air rifle hunter for most of my life, I am also a licensed falconer, and as such have to be intimately aware/informed as...

    Too tough squirrels

Lead is EXTREMELY toxic to BOP's. The size of a ballpoint pen tip can easily kill a hawk, hence why they are using non-lead.

    My personal best yet.

What state if you don't mind me asking? I went to pop prairie dogs for the first time about 1.5mo ago outside of Amarillo and learn some valuable things. Headshots are better than vitals shots because while a good vitals shot will definitely kill them, they can make it back down their holes...
