It tend's to improve because it reduces the turbulent air behind the pellet. However, a bad quality (off centered) moderator will in fact decrease the accuracy . 

Yes, it works on my 600mm Slub liner at 940ft/s and even better on my 700mm Slug liner A @ 980 ft/s

Slug liner, 700mm 965ft/s on my MK2. Just did 300/300 with 22 x's on 50 meters Bench Rest competition. They like speed.

Twist. I think that the 17.7 twist is too slow for slugs.

Out of a 700mm Slug liner the Redesigned (25.39gr in .22) shoots like a laser bean at 977-980ft/s out of my Impact X

That conic base will be crap. Write down what I'm saying. I have not yet saw a single slug that shoots well with that base. I hope they made them flat.

I have a curiosity. My MKII will arrive later this month. What should I expect about velocities out of the box ? (Assuming of course that the reg is at 150, maxed hammerspring and elongated TPs).

Maybe the tuning or the gun itself or me as shooter but on my testes unless the slugs go high on speed they do not perform as well . But I confess that I didn't try as hard on lower velocities...

Maybe. Mine is not a MKII. It just have minor mods (hammer weight, elongated TPs) and i have NO extra plenum tube. My slug liner if I measure it right is 1:16 (700mm). I think that the MK2 is better (already order one) but the impact X is plenty capable to shoot slugs very very well as you can...
