Air Arms Can a ProSport be safely decocked?

@853_OKG - I can verify that this works. It is a bit tedious, as you said. But it works. I'm going to have to make me a little tool or gadget of some sort to streamline the process. I have a few ideas, but if you have any suggestions or further info that might be helpful, I'd love to hear more...

Air Arms Can a ProSport be safely decocked?

    Yeah, I'm a little frugal, I guess.

Air Arms Can a ProSport be safely decocked?

@boscoebrea - I keep track of my pellet usage: Critter hits, misses, blow offs, target practice, etc. I'm not anal about it; but it's in the ballpark. Since January 1, 2024, I've blown off ~192 pellets. I consider those mostly wasted shots. Yes, I've shot most of them at little pebbles, etc...

Air Arms Can a ProSport be safely decocked?

@853_OKG - That's great news! But how do you depress that plunger, keep it depressed, while you hold onto the cocking lever firmly with one hand and pull the trigger with the other? This will really help me a lot if I can manage to do this.

Air Arms Can a ProSport be safely decocked?

I think I just found the answer to my own question. From the ProSport manual: "Once cocked the rifle cannot be easily de-cocked, never fire the rifle without a pellet as this may damage the seals. If you have loaded and cannot fire at your chosen target but wish to make the rifle safe, fire the...

Air Arms Can a ProSport be safely decocked?

This video shows how to decock a TX200. From what I understand, the ProSport and TX200 have the same power plant, except the ProSport doesn't have a bear trap. Our HW97K manual says: Never pull the trigger if the barrel / cocking barrel is bent down. The barrel / cocking barrel will fly...

Air Arms ProSport Trigger Adjustment - Fires when safety disengaged.

@Feinwerk and @marflow 777 - Thank you both very much. I think I'm going to give it a try. I was a little nervous about it at first; but you've given me enough info to go on that I'm not so scared of it now. Very much appreciated !!!

Air Arms ProSport Trigger Adjustment - Fires when safety disengaged.

@Feinwerk - Thank you! I really appreciate it. I'm not sure if a ProSport can be safely decocked. Anybody out there have info about that? From what I understand, the ProSport and TX200 share the same power plant, except the ProSport does not have a bear trap. We have an HW97K, and they say...

Air Arms ProSport Trigger Adjustment - Fires when safety disengaged.

Thanks, but unfortunately, it doesn't talk about how to adjust it. I did some searching about it and found this link, which does talk about it a little. But as I said, I'd rather not dink with it any more than I have to, lest I mess it up worse. https://airguns.net/general_tx200_trigger.php I...

Air Arms ProSport Trigger Adjustment - Fires when safety disengaged.

Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated. It passes the bump test. It has an extremely long first stage. Once you reach that second stage, you barely have to breathe on it for it to go off. When the gun is cocked, with the safety on, the trigger returns fine. With the safety off...

Air Arms ProSport Trigger Adjustment - Fires when safety disengaged.

Our ProSport has developed the tendency to fire sometimes when I disengage the safety. It doesn't happen all of the time. Just every now and then. I don't want to go dinking around with the trigger a lot since I've never adjusted a trigger before, and the manual says if you don't know what...

What springer did you shoot today?

Thanks. 35 yards is my limit. But I shoot exclusively .177 -- I've never even shot a .22 air gun -- and I have to be able to hit within 1/4" to make a good clean kill. I couldn't do that at 75 yards in my wildest dreams. I got 5 chippers today despite being sick and not spending much time...

What springer did you shoot today?

Thank you! A friend bought us an Arken ELP4 6-24x50 scope when they were on sale, and although I love the view at 24x, I find I shoot better with it at 14-16x. Target acquisition and parallax adjustments are more forgiving, too. I think you shoot way better than me, and it helps to know it's...

What springer did you shoot today?

@crowski - When you're using one of your 6-24x50 FFP scopes to help you sling lead through those tiny little holes in your metal targets, what magnification do you usually set the scope at?

What springer did you shoot today?

Crow - If you'd like to guarantee you'll get them, and quickly, or when you've given up all hope of ever receiving them, pray to St. Phanurios, and pray for the soul of his mother. And when your airguns arrive -- and they will -- have your wife bake a really nice sweet of some sort -- any kind...

Crow -- Friendly suggestion. You might want to read this: https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Missing-Mail-The-Basics And file a missing mail search here: https://missingmail.usps.com/ This may get them moving on it. Otherwise, it may never move. There's no guarantee it will help. Sometimes it...

What springer did you shoot today?

@20calguy - Friendly observation. Take it for what it's worth: Several years ago, one of the more seemingly knowledgable guys on the list advised somebody that when he mounted his scope to his springer, to put the stop pin in the hole and then slide the mount FORWARD as much as possible before...

What springer did you shoot today?

You might want to take it apart and check your piston seal. You might have blown it already. Our HW97K kicked like a mule -- ok. harder than a .308, maybe a .30-06 -- from day one. It blew out the piston seal, melted the breech seal, and broke the main spring within less than 90 days. I...
