    AEA Challenger pro problem

@gxs - I'm not trying to argue with you or doubt what you've done, but I've owned and worked on 4 Challenger Pros (plus a Varmint and fixed a HP Carbine for a friend) so know what I'm talking about. So this will be my last post on the topic: What I see in your first photo is barrel droop...

    Lets see some long distance...

I've thought about buying a springer for long range plinking so this thread is of interest to me. I always thought that I'd get a side or underlever from one of the German manufacturers. Never considered a multi-pump, like the DragonFly, but I like the price!

    AEA Challenger pro problem

Nope, not likely. The AEA transfer port design isn't like what you're thinking of. It has a wide groove around the outside of the barrel and several holes around the circumference. This is how they are able to move so high a volume of air without having to have a huge transfer port in the...

    Benjamin Akela .22 barrel issues

I've attached a .PDF that shows the components of the Akela. The shroud should not move, it should be rigid. There's a collar held by 2 set screws (that's in your photo above) that's threaded. The shroud threads on to the collar. The barrel is about 6" shorter than the shroud. You can twist...

    Show us your Krals!

I picked up an Akela from Amazon and spent some time getting it to hummm... deburred the receiver, changed some o-rings, polished the bore, dumped the baffles, made a barrel band, modified the stock and gave it a quick refinish. Now she shoots perfectly. With just a red dot I'm hitting the 2"...

Best way to remove the existing finish on a wood stock?

I stripped the stock with two applications of a citrus based paint remover, wiped it with a damp rag, and then after it dried I applied 3 coats of "Feed n Wax". Tomorrow, after it's dried, I'll give it a final buff.

Wow! That came out very nicely!

Best way to remove the existing finish on a wood stock?

I've got a Benjamin Akela with a Turkish walnut stock. I'd like to modify the stock a bit so that it fits me better, but I'd also like to remove the existing finish first? What methods are people using that work best? (Photo is what the rifle looks like now.)

N/A Ok, so who wants a pump action bullpup?

As long as they have it in stock... :P

N/A Ok, so who wants a pump action bullpup?

To be honest, I like the overall look of the Krals better than Benjamin's version. My only big issue with Krals is that nobody in the US is selling them and finding replacement parts can be (very) challenging.

Tuning Advice needed: removing burrs from barrel set screw holes?

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I ended up using a ballpoint pen and wrapped some 1,000 grit sandpaper around it. Ordered some spare o-rings which should arrive later this week. Then I should be rocking!

N/A Ok, so who wants a pump action bullpup?

Hey Dr. K, ever try a longer barrel on an Akela? OMG the power increase blew me away. That's the barrel from my Cayden mounted on my Akela. Just that one change shifted POI 1 1/2 feet up compared to the original barrel. And yes, I'm with you regarding some of these lower cost air rifles. I...

Benjamin Air Rifles - AWESOME customer service

I bought a Benjamin Akela (Kral made) last week that has some minor issues (o-rings chewed up by burrs). This morning I called Benjamin customer support, spoke with a very pleasant and helpful person, gave them a list of the o-rings I needed, and before I was off the phone I already received an...

Tuning Advice needed: removing burrs from barrel set screw holes?

I pulled the barrel on my new Benjamin Akela and the tops of both barrel o-rings were badly sliced up. I suspect that one or both of the holes for the set screws have burrs. It's a very difficult spot to get at. Any advice from the pros?

AEA Products-wondering how everyone is rating the overall quality of this product line now that we’ve had access to it for a couple of years?

I've owned 3 and repaired a 4th for a friend. Quality / accuracy / reliability is pretty hit or miss. Only one dealer (Bin Tac) consistently stocks repair parts. The last Challenger Pro I bought (not from Bin Tac) couldn't hit the side of a barn at 50 yds. Polished the bore and crown (pretty...

A really bad experience with Wish.com (and PayPal)

Is there another on-line payment system that's better than PayPal? I see some people take "Venmo" which I've never tried.

A really bad experience with Wish.com (and PayPal)

That's not a bad idea. I've stopped paying with PayPal where ever possible, but what about buying from someone here on the forums? Or selling? Listing something for sale and not taking PayPal is almost impossible.

A really bad experience with Wish.com (and PayPal)

To be fair, the only time BBB has been useful was when I was dealing with an otherwise honorable company.

A really bad experience with Wish.com (and PayPal)

Well, we do have other courses of action that we can take. Two that I've taken in the past include filing complaints with both the Better Business Bureau and the state attorney general's office. We may be small fish, but if enough small fish take action even the big whales have to obey the law.

A really bad experience with Wish.com (and PayPal)

The only reason they gave was that the purchase "wasn't covered under PayPal's buyer's protection policy". I now understand why some people refuse to use PayPal.
