I've also been looking, went to Cabelas to look... was recommended the "Vortex® Ranger® 1300 Rangefinder" for $299, has red led, unfortunately it was sold out, but available online. Had great reviews, used my Cabela point and ordered one. They have free 2 day shipping.

Awesome post and replies... have a week old impact X and learning a lot of gr8 stuff on this site and from everyone... trying to be a sponge and soak up everything others have learned and experiences being shared.

For anything important I have it delivered to my wife's store. There I know that either she or one of her employees will be there to receive and sign for it. If you ship to a business both FedEX, UPS, DHL, USPS... will not leave items outside. Food for thought.

I made 2 bird feeders and screwed them to 2 trees 20 yards and 50 yards from my bedroom sliding door. Just filled them with sunflower seeds, waited about 1 week... saw lots of birds and squirrels. After waiting a week shot about 16 squirrel within 2 weeks right out of my bedroom sliding...

WOW... My FX arrived last Friday, I removed the barrel to clean, just 1 set screw (No Thumb screw on current Impact X models), and the barrel came out like butter. Maybe since it was a pre-impact X it was sitting around lost it's lubrication... something definitely not right. Damn sorry to hear...
