Gauge unscrews & collar only comes off then. Either use correct thin wall socket or the 2 drill shank methiod placing drill shanks snuggly into the flats on gauge flats & Then hold them in vice jaws with gauge face up close to jaws and gently apply rotation to housing. It is what I do ;)

It does matter which direction Reg is fitted #1 Now installed correctly and no air reaches plenum ..... Improper output setting / seat height, or bevel washers not in correct order etc ... DID YOU TAKE REGULATOR APART ?

Not always or typical ... Production AG's at times wain in holding ideal tolerance on some parts, as such having the said AG on the bench aids in getting nice & tight fitment or correctly altering a specific areas such as probe seating depths, leade/throat specs etc ... ( barrel work ) Same...

Each and every type or model / make will be different in terms of what needing to be done in taking a "Blank" and having it become "drop In" ready. Concentric turning to bore, Straight or tapered leades / freebore at specific diameters & depth, Thimbles, Threading & Clocked transfer & breech...

It was SCOPE that was not real practical on a >6fpe rifle. Trajectory is so loopy that one would need a D.O.P.E. card to know where to aim as various distances. If shooting at a fixed distance, adjust POI and shoot away ;)

At not quite 6 FPE there closer distance shooters. While a scope can help poor eyes and allow some precision shooting .... there use is not real practical.

A lot of Folks or Shops either OWN or have access to very expensive machines, tooling etc that can do custom work or side work outside where & how these machines make there money day in and day out. Those who are around the modern Machine Shop and some old timers and less exotic machines know...
