What would you consider best springer under $300

    10.x gr CHP shoots about 575fps 7gr R10 shoots about 640fps

    .177 vs .22 springer pesting

JD, that is all the more reason to splurge on a nice 18lb cocking effort HW30. Or even better a 12lb cocking effort FWB300 which requires more shoulder and less elbow movement. The only trade off is about twice the weight. I know where your coming from, two tore rotator cuffs here. I've got a...

What would you consider best springer under $300

For target shooting and accurate plinking I don't think there is any thing on the market better than the HW30. Well made, easy to cock, and a very nice trigger. You can not beat it for a family oriented rifle in the $300 range. I've found them at AOA just like new for as little as $200. I...

    scope mounts problem?

I would just slap a set of BKLs on and be done with it. The Sportsmatch are definitely not cheap, but they are not self centering either. Since putting a set on my first PCP I would not consider anything else. You might give your mounts a close inspection for burrs. Sounds like a clear case...

    (expired)Found one

Good luck Joe, they are harder to find than hen teeth. I've responded to at least a dozen listings over the last year and it is always the same store SOLD. Honestly you have a better chance of findiing 22 rim fire ammo at walmart. Here is one up for grabs...

    FWB 124

I replaced mine with SS version from air gun headquarters after rebuilding my 124 a while back. I was pretty happy with it seemed to improve feel a bit a lot of it may have been due to fresh lubricants. It had been setting in the case for a couple decades. btw: My rifle had some type of a die...

is there a high quality, affordable shooting rest ?

I use a Rock BR, and it appears to be very smooth operation but like Kim an NMshooter I find it much quicker to fine tune by squeezing the rear bag. I think the Bald Mountain unit would be a good investment for only a few dollars more. But I'm pretty sure I would still be doing final adjustments...

Need assistance setting up 220v for compressor

I took did something similar to fungun's suggestion when I had to switch my compressor from 110v to 220v. My solution was to buy a 4' dryer replacement cable. I then put on a 220 recepticle to match my 220v compressor plug. So I just basically have a short extension cable. I only use it a couple...

    New old rifle

I would give it a good dose of chamber oil. There is a good chance that some will find it way down the chamber walls as well as give your piston seal the required lubrication. I have a like new FWB300 I bought new back in the mid 80's and probably still haven't shoot a whole tin of pellets...

I think I've found a new favorite rifle and it is not a PCP

Thank you for the info Hammarhead. I'll have to order one of JM kits and have it on hand for a rainy day. It looks kinda rainy out to day in fact. Maybe I should order some of that plastic for inserts for the cocking linkage I suppose they must all starting grinding eventually.

I think I've found a new favorite rifle and it is not a PCP

MEC, I don't see the plastic blocks on the HW30 like on some of the other HWs in the very limited schematics. So do you just press the butt end of the compress tube down on a rubber pad or something with grip and twist the tube to release it?

I think I've found a new favorite rifle and it is not a PCP

I recently replaced the spring and seals in my FWB124 with a JM spring, I was really impressed with it the gun cocks about the same as the HW30 but is still demands the proper hold to perform the way the HW does. The 124 shoots a lot smoother especially with a light black tar treatment on the...

I think I've found a new favorite rifle and it is not a PCP

I guess I figured there had to be a flier to come eventually as I was shooting a combination of AA diabolo fields and some chinese Beeman wad cutters. I must say for $3.03 plus handling and shipping for 500 they seemed to work pretty darn good. Used the wad cutters for mostly 20 yards and under.

I think I've found a new favorite rifle and it is not a PCP

I've bought a new HW30 a month or so back. I didn't spend a lot of time with it as I have about 20 air guns that get short bits of my time. But the last couple weeks it seems this one has been getting a bit more attention it was usually my Regal Xl and Marauder .25. But I must have finally got...

    Honing?

I guess it would depend if you had much interference with the piston inside the cylinder. It would for sure help to keep the seal from getting tore up when reinstalling by removing burrs and such from around cut outs. But I don't own any NP powered rifles so maybe there could be some other benefit.

    Chrony help please.

I was referring to what model air gun not crony. That would be a an ok fps for a co2 such as a crosman pistol. I would keep it at least 3' from the muzzle.

    Chrony help please.

What type and model of gun are you using? My competition crony works best inside with the light kit you can purchase separately for it. The readings are slightly faster and hardly any errors with that setup. That light kit is UV and you don't even see the light only the power indicators.

    Quietest PCP you own?

I think the quietest I own would be a crosman silhouette pistol.

Any recommendations for quality scope rings for a 56mm objective scope?

The BKL 300 rings are plenty tall enough for your marauder. They may even fit a 60mm objective if it has side focus, the front focus objectives are quite bulky. What model scope are you using?

    Spring compression

I know AA TX200s in stock format don't require them. I know FWB 124 in stock format do require them. As binfordw says it depends on the make and if it has been modified already. Most folks just make them themselves with a large 6" C clamp. Here is a pretty descent looking one...
