    winter shooting

I was thinking about some Winter shooting this week, but the temperature is only 65 degrees and I'm freezing my butt off. Maybe tomorrow I will get out my down jacket and shoot a little.

Looking at buying my first PCP

It might be a better option to buy a nice springer instead of a PCP, when you factor in the price of a compressor and your power limit. I have both and I'm just as accurate with my HW95 as I am with any PCP under 20 ft/lb.

    Best state to live/retire ?

After living in Port Charlotte, Florida for two years, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone thinking of moving here. I don't have anywhere to shoot my pellet rifles and the traffic is horrible. The water out of the tap is gross and there are nearly 1000 new homes being built around me. The Winter...

    Wanting to dabble in hft

I've shot both .22 and .177 in the middle of the HFT pack in CT and I don't think caliber made much difference in my scores. All I remember is that I met a lot of nice people who were fun to shoot with. I honestly can't remember if I shot a 36 or 38 out of 60 or with which gun. Learn your...

    Tuning BSA Buccaneer Fill Probe?

Buy the Huma air model for the Gamo Urban. It's a lot better than the original.

    ALPHA 6 Scope On HW97 12fps Springer?

Yes, the Alpha 6 has held up well at 14 FPE. I still need a click or two with big weather changes, but once I set it for a shooting session it holds well.

Is Airsoft Powerful Enough For Cardboard Targets? No Co2

The bio bb's are made from the same chemicals as lawn fertilizer. No need to worry about being green. They shoot as well as the plastic as well. I have an old M4 AEG that has been a lot of fun. I also have an M&P40 pistol in Co2 that's fun. If I bought another one for target shooting, it would...

    Beeman P17 option

Don't worry, as soon as she clamps it on her shirt while cocking it, you will get back. Another P17 is still a good option. The only thing better than shooting a P17 is shooting one with a friend or wife.

Looking for a healthier lead alternative ammo choice for indoor .357

I think qball nailed it. Even if you do shoot lead indoors, the difference in ammo pricing would more than cover the price of a .177 or .22 rifle. That would also give the option to shoot GTO's indoors lead-free.

Will they work together? Alpha 6 scope and HW97k

I'm just using cheap UTG rings on my alpha6 and it has been fine. No movement that I can tell after 3000 shots @14 FPE.

OK, I guess I'll post one.

New to the hobby : help me pick a pistol/rifle

A Canadian shop would eliminate the import issue. https://airgunarcheryfun.ca/artemis-pp750-multi-shot-pcp-pistol/

    Current Members Map

The old map is now a pay site that gives little info. If you're looking for local people, a "who wants to shoot in X town" post on the forum works much better.

    "Best" pellets testing accuracy?

My P17 will shoot an acceptable group with several different pellets, but the most accurate is the Daisy wadcutters lubed with Lemon Pledge. I can hit the AV metal rams 9 out of 10 @20 yards. That is as far as I can see them with open sights. 10M groups are around 1 1/4" or slightly less. The...

Thoughts on Primary Arms 22LR ACSS scope?

BudK is where I got my Aim Sports Alpha 6 scope. Shipping was only a couple days. I believe they shipped from Georgia. https://www.budk.com/Alpha-30MM-Rifle-Scope-With-MR1-MRAD-Reticle-6-25--47108

Astigmatism - substantially negated by red dot PLUS magnifier?

A toric contact lens has an oval shaped correction in addition to the spherical correction and the lens is weighted so the lens will rotate to the correct position in the first minute after you put them in to put the toric correction on the correct axis. As said above, eye glasses can do a...

Thoughts on Primary Arms 22LR ACSS scope?

I've shot a few Primary Arms scopes on friends guns and the glass was low end quality. Not terrible, but not good either. You could get better glass and AO from Sniper out of Texas Ohunt or UTG for less than $150. I like a bit more than 6x zoom, but you should shoot what you like. Here is a 6X...

Astigmatism - substantially negated by red dot PLUS magnifier?

The only thing that really fixed my astigmatism was toric contact lenses before I got Lasik. So a trip to the eye doctor would be the thing. It wasn't easy though. I also had dry eyes so the disposable contact lenses all felt like sandpaper in my eyes. Luckily I found an eye doctor who was above...

The true cost of owning a PCP

To be fair, most of us could setup a decent rifle for $650 ready to shoot. My two favorite shooters are both in that range. If you have Ferrari taste, that's on you. There is also nothing wrong with buying a $1200+ if you can afford it and it it gives you years of pleasure. if you keep a gun 15...

Which would you pick and why?

The VT-Z 4x16-44 is a decent side focus scope for the money. The only issue on them is that some of the side turrets are too tight to turn without the side wheel. That would be the deciding factor on keeping the Discovery.
