Umarex Windage adjustment day to day ?

I think the short answer is no. That amount of temp change should be insignificant. Is the rifle stored in a manner that would generate lateral pressure on the barrel? The POI changes that I've seen from temp change has generally been more vertical, from a velocity change. I believe that I would...

N/A What caliber is best for 50yds bench rest .

You can find answers by reviewing match results in the BR forum. My quick review seemed to indicate that .22 is most prominent in 50 yard pellet competition. I don't know about slugs, but maybe they compete separately and against RF.

    Anyone else miss FX USA

Newman Buck's company is Cape Fear Airguns. He has a web site and is now an authorized warranty service center for FX.

    What is your effective range?

Maximum range for 80% confidence offhand? 0! I might not be the worst offhand shooter in existence, but I'd be competitive for it. In truth, I just don't take offhand shots when hunting. I'm either seated with a stick, or standing beside a tree. The kill zone on a squirrel is small, and I...

    Taipan Worth the trouble

I don't think that is indicative of any inherent problem with the CZ barrel. When you consider how different the ballistic features are between slugs and pellets, it is not surprising that many great pellet barrels do not handle slugs well.

    N/A Accuracy improvements

Assuming that you're using a quality rifle with proven pellets, then forget about equipment and focus on technique, reading conditions, and practice. Consistency is the key. As the race car mechanic said, the most important nut is the one behind the wheel.

Pest control - RAW HM1000x or FX Crown

For 50 yard shooting I would choose the RAW without reservation. It is simple, accurate, great trigger, rock-solid reliability. And at that range, pellets are very satisfactory. If you want to attempt 150 yard shooting, that's a different challenge altogether and you will likely need more power...

    N/A lapping a barrel

I believe it depends on the exact reference. On these forums, "lapping" is often used to refer to polishing with various polishing agents. You aren't likely to damage a barrel in that process. True lapping is done with a lead lap and various levels of lapping compounds. That is a tedious process...

RAW LRT (Full Review) Grey Laminate / Rapid Air Worx HM1000X LRT

No. There is a significant body of opinion among precision smiths (including Martin), that removing metal from the exterior of the bore will affect internal dimensions to the detriment of accuracy. I was discussing this with him several years ago, and he had recently threaded a muzzle at the...

Can someone explain why the POI change?

Either The O Ring Store, or O Rings and More.

Can someone explain why the POI change?

Assuming the bottle is sufficiently tight, it's probably just the bottle seal, an easy O ring replacement.

    Mechanical or Electronic?

In a PCP air rifle, assuming a proper stock and rest, and good trigger technique, any difference in results between lock times of any quality fire control systems is immaterial. I'm open for correction, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

    Mechanical or Electronic?

I've had a Red Wolf for several years, and it has been trouble free. That said, I have no intentions of buying another electronic rifle. The timing out of the firing mechanism when the safety is off can be a pain in a hunting situation. The trigger is finicky to set up, and the first stage is...

    Chronograph recommendations? Old Labradar?

I don't mean this in any critical way, but just wondering why you need the downrange velocity more precisely than the estimates available in charts? I understand that more accurate velocity numbers will yield a more accurate BC calculation, but the practical difference seems relatively...

N/A Barrel harmonics or ideal pellet speed.

The variables involved in achieving accuracy are almost infinite. I suggest that you first need to determine your priority goal. It might be a certain fpe, a range of velocity, a certain pellet, etc. With that goal in mind, you manipulate all the variables within your control to find the best...

Other New 2024 mid-range air rifles with a lovely wood stock?

If I were interested in a .30, I'd look for an FX Boss, or RAW. Both are simple, sturdy platforms. And I'd stay away from any liner/sleeve system, such as the Crown, but that's my personal prejudice. If electronics is your thing, the Daystate Red Wolf is nice. I have a Red Wolf in .22, and it...

Resources AA HFT500 Good for Benchrest? - OK, prove it!

Is there a BR class for sub-12 fpe rifles, I didn't see one? If not, then I expect you will see very few rifles in this power class.

Lands and grooves vs slug .217 in 22.

I probably misunderstood your statement above as meaning that unchoked barrels were the general preference for slugs. As I said, I don't shoot slugs so I can't offer experience that suggests either one is superior. My experience with RF suggests to me that choked barrels might perform very well...

Lands and grooves vs slug .217 in 22.

I would not assume that the best slug barrels are unchoked. When I was active in RF benchrest all of my best barrels were choked. That said, I know there are many barrels that deliver precision accuracy of both profiles.

Lands and grooves vs slug .217 in 22.

I've also had good luck by removing the barrel and pushing a pellet through with a cleaning rod. That will tell you what you have, but not necessarily what is best. Compared to firearms, most air rifle barrels have more, but shallower groves, which I assume has been proven superior with pellets...
