price of airguns going up because of coronavirus ?

A guy in a local shop told me this today. The production of airguns has slowed down / stopped because of coronavirus but the demand is there so the price is going up. The guy also claimed that the price will not go back to the level in the past even after the pandemic is over. Is that true ?

Yong Heng second-stage piston breaking – not any more ?

I have come across about 4 such reports in this forum and these are three of them : https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/dang-yong-heng/ https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/yong-heng-8/ https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/death-of-my-yong-heng/ The following photos are from these threads...

Newbie question on slug casting - sprue cutting

After some success with casting pure lead, I just attempted to cast with 9:1 lead : linotype alloy. The difference is huge. The sprue will drop out by itself instead of sticking to the spure plate like lead. However, it seems that the metal is a LOT more brittle as the sprues would break some...

    seam line on cast slug

Being a total newbie to slug casting, I have started trying it with a 8-cavity , .22 cal mold from MP Mold. As expected there is a seam line on all slugs but I wonder how big the step along the seam line is considered acceptable. I have tried to measure it by clamping one half of the mold on a...

    newbie question on slug casting

I have bought a 8-cavity .22 cal aluminium mold from MP mold and started doing some casting last week. Upon opening the mold, the slugs always drop out by themselves but the lead mass on top of the sprue plate always stays there and I had to pull it out by using a piler. In all youtube videos on...

    Lee melting pot

I have just purchased a Lee production pot IV and tried to do some casting with it yesterday. I set the thermostat to about 6 which is slightly above the middle of the range. After about 15 pours, I went to check the slug cast and left the power of the pot on. When I returned, I was surprised...

    Question on aluminium slug molds

I have just got an aluminium mold from MP Mold. I blackened it with a cigarette lighter before use. Do I need to wash away the carbon coating after use and blacken it again the next time ?

Preparing a new aluminium slug mold : is heat cycling needed ?

After reading related info on line it seems that heat cycling is needed for brass molds only. For Aluminum molds, only blackening with smoke is needed. May I know if this understanding is correct ? Aluminum mold does not need the formation of oxide layer to prevent mold sticking ?

I am about to try out casting .22 slugs using Aluminium molds from MP Mold. Just wondering what kind of lubricants should be used for the spruce plate and the alignment pins. Any advises will be appreciated.

    Quieting down the Yong Heng

I have owned my Yong Heng for about a year and it has been working flawlessly. If there is anything I can complain about it, it is the noise level which is rather high for my neighbors so I decided to do something about it. I have learnt from this forum that quite a big part of the noise...

    seeking advice on casting slugs

I have a 5.55 mm slug mold from MP Mold on order but I have never done any casting before. May I know if anyone can let me know what I should pay attention to ? I will just be heating the mold and melting the lead using my kitchen stove so there is not any means for temperature control. Thanks...

Yong Heng piston cracking - no more ! ( hopefully )

There has been quite many reports on the top of the first-stage piston of Yong Heng cracking after some use. Although mine has been working fine for about a year, I decided to take this to the Yong Heng factory in China and see if they will do something about it. It turns out that they have...

Yong Heng low-pressure relief valve hissing - "problem" fixed

Just today I observed something odd on my YH. It's working fine but a few seconds after it is shut down, I noticed some faint hissing sound coming out from the low-pressure relief valve ( the one with a red plastic cover and a ring ). The hissing stops once the high pressure end is bleeded. The...

How to fix regulator creep problem without buying a Huma ?

My Huben K1 ( version 2 ) has rather sever regulator creep and after reading many posts on this subject, I came to the understanding that it can be fixed by improving the mating between the seat and the piston ( if that is the correct term ) that do the sealing between the high and low pressure...

Huben K1 - slow pressure restoration by regulator

I have a Huben K1( version 2 ) equipped with an externally adjustable regulator. After firing a shot, the reading of the pressure gauge ( at the regulator output side ) will instantaneously drop by about 10 bars and it will take about 10 seconds for it to restore the preset value. may I know if...

Loudness of firing with and without pellet

I have a .22 Huben K1 shooting JSB Beast ( 34 grain ) at 984 fps. With the original shroud, the loudness of firing just air and firing pellet is roughly the same although the sound of firing air is mainly a “thrump” and that of firing pellet has a cracking “pakkk” mixed into it. I was firing at...
