Did you check out this post on springers? I suggest a heavier pellet. JSB 10.3's or H&N 10.65's work well. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/best-tips-on-shooting-a-springer.1274548/
Welcome to Airgun Nation. Congratulations on your new PCP rifle. Beware, the rabbit hole is deep. HPA is a tool and you have to respect it. YouTube is your friend. Here is a good video on your rifle to get started. Rick puts a lot of work into his videos. I would youtube your...
@fishing43 - Way to go starting your grandson out right! I had to use rocks and a slingshot when I was his age! Kids and their fancy semi-auto PCPs these days... :)
Welcome to Airgun Nation. Sorry to hear about your health, I hope you get well soon. One of the main features I recommend on compressors is AUTO SHUTOFF. This is a very important feature so that the compressor shuts off at the desired pressure. I recently purchased a GX4 pump and I have been...
Bunnies get a pass from me as well. The only critters that get no quarter are house sparrows (hosps), grackles, starlings, pigeons and cow birds. I concur, that is a nice gallery. Need more soup cans though. :)
I really hope this is temporary but I am not holding my breath. I think the only good pumper left is the out of production Sheridans. I was lucky enough to find a NOS 72' Sheridan Blue Streak. I suggest to anyone that wants a good pumper to find an old Sheridan and refurbish it or get an...
@Mark B - Please interpret: HPA-SSP-MPP HPA = High Pressure Air = PCPs. SSP = Single Stroke Pneumatic = Pistols and rifles that are one cock, one shot with an air resovoir. The P17 is an excellent example, everyone should have one. Very affordable SSP pistol with an amazingly good trigger...
I was giving the PCP guys a run for their money with my HW97k .20 this weekend at 55 yards. They had the advantage at 80 but I was still hitting cans and the big spinners. Not too bad for a lowly springer. :)
@Snead360 - Welcome to Airgun Nation. Having access to SCBA equipment might make you lean towards a PCP. Beware, the PCP rabbit hole is deep and can get expensive really quickly. Watch a bunch of videos on youtube and budget accordingly. Take a look at the Benjamin Marauder .22 for your...
Something to consider might be the Crosman 3622 (Discovery replacement). With a scope, air and a .22 pellet in the steel breech the rifle weighs maybe five pounds. The rifle only fills to 2000 psi and gets about 20 shots per fill. It does have a little bark to it but that can be addressed...
Yes, fill the rifle to regular fill pressure. Shoot an entire string from start to the point where the velocity starts dropping off and then check the regulator pressure. Keep a record of your shot string and count. This will help you diagnose your rifle.
Sounds drastic, I would keep your current gear. Why downsize? Already paid for and in good condition most likely. You only live once, get a big stonkin' PCP and have some fun! Get a couple! Buy some pistols, join a club! Carpe diem! The only hand pump I recommend -
Another vote for the JSB / AA / FX 10.3's. They shoot very well out of my .177's. However, every barrel is different so test them all. It's a rough job but someone has to do all that plinking. Soup cans beware.
EVERYTHING has gone up except my salary. I am glad I purchased all of my rifles before this craziness. I even have a few spares just in case. My best deal was two HW50's from Krale for only $500 with shipping. Both in .177 and droop free. Probably will not see those prices again. HW50's...
