RAW HM1000x N50 cards with the new "shallows"

I finally got several tins of the new JSB 25.39 Shallow Pellets. Went out to my local outdoor range today and shot (4) N50 cards. I am admittedly a bit rusty, as I have been focused on the 30Y and 40Y Challenge targets for months. RAW HM1000X .22 with very clean barrel Midas Tac 6-24X50MM...

    OK group at 100Y

Funny post Mike! I thought of another excuse. “Yeah, I was holding four bulls to the right, and missed my 7th flag that shifted direction when the wind gusted to 20 mph on my Kestrel. Otherwise that would have been six thru the same hole.” Great accuracy with those slugs. I hope my MRD...

Resources AA HFT500 Good for Benchrest? - OK, prove it!

Paul, Although I do not sort, weigh or size my pellets for my Benchrest shooting purposes, your explanation and logic makes good sense to me also. I realize this debate of sorting vs not sorting has been well documented on the forum, but when you see a majority of the best competition...

    30-Yard Challenge

Brenton, The harder to shoot targets are the Masters 30y and 40y targets. The reason is because every bull counts vs. the “Challenge targets,” which allow for two pairs of bulls you can throw away and will not count towards your score. A good way to begin is to try shooting different rifles...

    Raw HM1000x pellet selection

Just got 5 tins of the shallows today from Pyramid Air. The pellets look to be of good quality. Out of town next week, but going to test them out in the RAW the following week. Will post my results first at 50y, then I’ll cherry pick a light wind day for 100y in the next few weeks.

    30-Yard Challenge

Thanks for the explanations and context Greg. I definitely would win first place for ‘being my own worst enemy.’ I agree that POI shifts are hard to predict and also hard to analyze, especially with wind in the equation. I am going to try an experiment though the next time I get a light...

    30-Yard Challenge

Your last sentence..... If not too gusty.....Are you saying pick a windage hold and stick to it for 24 bulls? I think you are saying exactly this. Please give a good example. I.e., wind speed for your suggestion? Tail wind, head wind, R-l, L-R? In other words, I would like to know based...

    30-Yard Challenge

Greg Always enjoy these overlaid dime photo experiments. If you shot this card with the exact same POA for every bull, I think it is amazing that you shot a 193 at 40Y. I never tried this on any challenge card, so I am curious. As an illustration, I adjust for every single bull for wind...

    30-Yard Challenge

I caught an error on the 40y challenge card. Should be a 186-9X vs.186-10x. I accidentally counted an “X” from a cross out bull. Tom

    30-Yard Challenge

Here is my submission for the next 30y Masters leaderboard. 195-10X Shot a few 40y cards, but best I could do was a 186-10x for 40 y challenge. RAW submission also, very slight improvement.

Put that 36x 42mm fixed Sightron 2FP on the Akela next time, and I bet the score moves north of 190. Pretty nice stock on that Benjamin. Good shooting Jim and Ed. 😃

Thanks Tim. FX 25.39 shoot well for me also. I want to order some new shallows and Grands and try them in my RAW HM1000x. The Grands were out of stock almost everywhere.

Tim What pellet were you shooting with the HPX? Assume JSB 25.39 shallow?

Some pretty good scores considering that wind, especially for the pellet shooters! Anytime I see shooters aiming at the six ring ( or the box line) and getting those kind of scores; I’m amazed at the wind reading skills.

Great scores Tim. What was the wind speed during the match? I know the weather predictions you mentioned yesterday were awful.
