If you open your favorite ballistic calculator and play around with the pellet weight, you will see the affect on the trajectory. Weight doesn't seem to really matter for hunting. I personally think that pellet condition (bent skirt, etc) has the largest effect on consistency.

I have the SWFA SS 6x42 and have taken a lot of rabbits, from 6m to about 50 meters. The main factors in choosing the 6 power, for me, were the huge 7mm exit pupil size and the ~7m field of view; I do a lot of my shooting at dusk and need to be able to locate and see the target.
