    PCP Photo Thread, Anyone?

My Walther LG400FT. It's got a custom silencer, a shortened cocking lever and is topped with a Falcon Menace 5.5-25x56 FFP scope. My Daystate Wolverine 2C, wearing a Theoben Long Series silencer and a Hawke Airmax 30 6-24X50 FFP scope. My Falcon FN6 in a cut-down FN12 stock...

    Moderator help needed

The Hugget Astille (if you can find one) will tame it.

Polygonally rifled .25 barrel loading issue

The barrel was given a throat in the breech this evening (thanks to my mate, Richard), and now loads as smoothly as you'd want it to. Despite the difficulties of using an NV scope indoors, it was starting to group quite nicely at 25 yards. I need to put some more lead down the barrel. The scope...

Polygonally rifled .25 barrel loading issue

I have done as advised by LW, and am testing the rifle tonight.

Polygonally rifled .25 barrel loading issue

Talk about German efficiency! I emailed Lothar-Walther (at about 2am, just before I went to bed), asking for advice, and woke up to find an answer already in my inbox!

Before and after going through the polygonal rifling.

Polygonally rifled .25 barrel loading issue

I've spoken to a gunsmith in the interim, and he has suggested that the breech needs a throat. As to accuracy, I haven't yet zeroed the rifle. It's still a work in progress; it's going to be used for night hunting, with a Photon NV scope. The scope itself needs to be physically moved closer to...

Polygonally rifled .25 barrel loading issue

I've got a 24" LW polygonally-rifled barrel on my Rapid 7, and am experiencing a strange problem when loading. I have tried H&N FTTs, Predator Polymags, and JSB King Heavy Mk2 pellets, and all have the same issue. Essentially, I have to use a fair bit of force to push the pellets into the...

    Efficiency question...

We're going off topic a bit, since I'm only really interested in efficiency as it relates to shot count, but at the energy and speed I'm after I intend to use H&N Piledrivers as opposed to diabolos. For those not in the know, have a read here ...

    Efficiency question...

Well, definitely getting close to it, yeah. I always thought that it's the transition from super- to sub-sonic (through the shock wave) that causes pellet instability at high speeds. Also, the polygonal rifling that I want is alleged to cause less instability from the muzzle; something I read...

    Efficiency question...

    It's a .22, but the factory barrel is 16".

    Efficiency question...

Thanks for the reply. I did state pellet weights - 16gr in .22, and 25gr in .25 😉 - in my penultimate paragraph. The differences in muzzle energy that I stated are to give the same muzzle velocity for the two different pellets.

    Efficiency question...

This is one for the technical guys... I am going to fit a pre-chamber and 605mm polygonal-rifled barrel in place of the standard one on my Theoben Rapid, and I have a choice of upgrades. I can either go .22 or .25 and I want to push the pellets to around 1000fps or a touch faster, but...

    Daystate Wolverine 2C

I don't know what the difference is, sorry. I quite like the plastic bit! I would imagine it's integral to the design.

Weirauch HW44 PCP Air Pistol (Best New Air Pistol 2018)

As air pistols go - in the UK anyway - this is the best thing to come along in 20-or-so years! The build quality - as one would expect from Weihrauch - is exemplary, and the accuracy is top notch. I fully expect to start seeing them appear at bell target shooting competitions, they are that...

    Daystate Wolverine 2C

Mike, I use 8.44gr Air Arms Field Diabolos, JSB Exact, or Daystate Rangemaster Sovereign, in 4.52mm. They're all essentially the same pellet, just made with different alloy mixtures. They are the same weight and shape, and have the same ballistic coefficient, and none of my rifles are pellet...

Thanks. I tell you something, though - the bottom of the grip needs rounding off, because after a couple of hours it feels sharp!

My benchrest tack driver. Daystate Wolverine 2C, .177 calibre, Hawke 10x44 Sidewinder, AirFective carbon fibre silencer, Rowan Engineering single shot adapter, Harris SRBM bipod. This is my tool against which I judge all others. I use it for benchrest target shooting at 50 metres, and it is a...

    A Cast of Falcons

Thanks, guys, much appreciated. It's taken me a few months to get them all to (almost - just need to make the FN11 a left-handed action) the way I want them. Apart from the FN6, I built them all from parts sourced off Facebook and UK selling sites, and I also did all the stock modifications. All...
