I recall last week or 3 there was a discussion on shimming up the rear scope ring with soda can cut outs... perhaps you could try that to at least get you up those 2 mil.

I'll post some pictures when I get it put back together. I'm waiting on a new lens at the moment... as to aiming without the scope, I'm borrowing an old counterstrike cheat for hip firing snipers. Avery makes a little marking dot I plan to affix to the monitor.

Rubber mulch is usually made from old tires so if you can scavage some old tires u can chop them up or just cut them into sheets. personally I prefer the duct seal. It does cost more but has a lot of benefits to it.

When I'm not shooting into it, I lay the cookie tin flat and put the lid on. I would if left upright it would eventually sag as it warms up. Plus it's a pretty thick load. As to group build up, I never let it accumulate... I pluck out my lead at the end of the day so I can recast them whenever...

For a pellet trap, I've been using Gardner Bender DS-110N 1-Pound Duct Seal Compound. About twelve pounds in a cookie tin (8x10in) makes an awesome pellet trap. Pellets penetrate about 1/2 inch but 5 shot groups pellet on pellet will make a bulge in the back of the tin. I'm shooting .22 cal...
