A tale of Two RAWs HM1000X

Excellent work and writeup Umair! Very good job with understanding and documenting the workings of the gun. I haven't posted in a while, but wanted to say 'hello' and compliment you on a job well done. If I could understand how to build an action to accept an Anschutz trigger, it might be...

    RAW

Congrats on the new RAW Kevin! I've not been on the forums for a while, but I've posted in the RAW Report quite a bit. I shoot a dual caliber (.25 / .30) HM1000X, pre-AF. I had Martin custom make the stock to be shorter for me and I absolutely love the gun. As posted in the RAW report, these...

    :)

I was already playing around with them on my custom bench gun back in late 2018-early 2019. They do have an effect on accuracy, but need to be tuned to the ammo (maybe even lot), power setting, and distance.

    Raw HM 1000x question

Typically around 140-145 bar. To be safe, probably refill once it crosses the 150 bar point on the gage. You can hear the audible change in sound if you pay close attention when it goes 'off regulator'. Sean

    RAW Chassis owners question

I was going to point out the same thing-glad you mentioned this. So with that adjustment, how short can it be adjusted too? I had my RAW walnut stock made custom to 13" LOP (from Martin) and it's fit me great the whole time-I never intend to sell the gun. However, I would like to add another...

    RAW REPORT

He loves his new RAW so far... (I'll let him post his own pics of it, when he's ready). :-)

    RAW REPORT

My coworker's son was advised to get an air rifle to prepare and practice for centerfire shooting competitions. So we talked a bit, I had them over to shoot my RAW, and he ended up buying one of the new ones with the new RAW chassis and the new moderator. He's been very pleased with it so far...

    RAW REPORT

That's great to hear, Nomojo! I've recently 're-invested' in my HM1000X by buying an Alkin compressor, and upgrading the optics from my Hawke Sidewinder FFP to an Athlon Cronus (still haven't mounted it yet). I thought this thread had been deleted or something, LOL. Glad to see everyone's...

What height rings for RAW HM1000x?

I have a set of EagleVision IPS-34 rings that are new that I'm looking to sell. Send me a PM if you're interested. As stated above: very nice rings...

Why is the efficency of pcp air rifles so low compared to firearms?

This, plus the heat loss as the air travels out of the regulator, through the transfer port, and down the barrel. Flowing around the ‘turns’ is inefficient, causes heat, and therefore losses in an airgun. Therefore there are a bunch of losses to even get the air to begin pushing the the pellet...

    air rifle vs. rimfire

Interesting, because I've been having the OPPOSITE finding this past year. My RAW HM1000X is spot on for POI when shooting cold, and my CZ 457 MTR (in a KRG Bravo chassis) has been throwing the first cold bore shot as the number of rounds has piled up (just bought it earlier this year). If I...

Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56 Rifle Scope Review

Question: has anyone looked through the Ares ETR and the Cronus BTR side by side to compare the difference in glass? Will I notice a difference (improvement) in the Cronus over what I have now with my Ares? Particularly at high magnification and, say, at 100 yards?

Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56 Rifle Scope Review

I just bought the MIL version for $1143.99, with the APRS reticle (the small floating '+'). I have the Ares ETR on my .22 lr and have been very impressed with the glass, reticle, etc. However, the floating dot version of the Cronus was already sold out. Does anyone know if the rest of the...

    Hades in .30!

Just tried them today in .25 (been sitting on them for a while)-I was pretty impressed. They shot nearly as tightly as JSB mkI heavies from my RAW at 50 yards (had one flyer). I happened to recover one from below the wood at the target-pretty well preserved. I was surprised at how much it...

    Help Needed - Best Compressor

Here's the description from my invoice (it looks like it was the 3.7 CFM version):

    Help Needed - Best Compressor

Glad the discussion has been useful-I learned a lot and owe what I know to the great members here (especially to Humdinger). I would pass along the advice he gave to me, as (in retrospect), it's spot on accurate: don't opt for the auto drain and auto shutdown, as it won't be used (the...

The term CONTINUOUS DUTY and how it applies (or doesn't)

That yahoo answer sounds pretty similar to what I said in the thread where this topic actually came up. Thanks for posting that reply.

Looking for scuba compressor 4500 psi

Would it mean anything if I told you I AM an engineer (Mechanical)-because I am one? Regarding appropriate selection for a dive shop: whether or not there are better choices for the application is irrelevant. What the manufacturer is saying is that it is CAPABLE of serving that function...

Looking for scuba compressor 4500 psi

I can only speak for the Alkin, from what I know: by 'continuous duty' it is intended to be used in a dive shop, submarine, etc where it can continue to turn around and keep filling, tank after tank (with proper procedures, of course-such as draining the condensate at appropriate intervals...
