    Huben GK1 “longey”

Another goofy experiment. Added a K1 plenum and Huma reg to the GK1, to make the .22 “longey” GK1 carbine or GK1/K1 hybrid, if you prefer. Awaiting the arrival of the moderator, which will extend 2” beyond the tube. Shooting AVS 22 grain slugs at 925 with ES of 8 at 150bar reg pressure...

    Huben GK1 repurposed!

Since this guy was a pistol when it was born, I’m posting in the pistol section… My .22 GK1 - Version 1 #67 has shot >30,000 GTOs. It has my “active shroud” mod but everything else has been stock and it’s been used exclusively as a pistol. I’ve changed one Oring but aside from that it’s been...

    Benjamin Benji/Crosman sisters

This has been fun: 1701P and Prod in AR stocks, each rigged with regs, lightweight hammers and valves modded for extra plenum space. Strikers, poppets and TPs made from PEEK. Tuned to get max power from a .42 spring (prod) or a .36 spring (1701P) for easy cocking. 18fpe from the Prod...

Benjamin Some Prod (and 1701P) ❤️❤️❤️

Lots of high end AGs lurking around but sometimes it’s nice to do some work on one of the old faithful. In this case, a P-rod that has been out on loan for a few months, working on some rats with a neighbor. Time for a refresh, squeezing out a bit more accuracy, efficiency and noise reduction...

AirMaks Arms Further adventures with the Caiman!

I’m very pleased to see that many people have had success with the Caiman regulator fix that I posted many moons ago. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/caiman-mk1-regulator-problem.1320127/ My .177 has been very solid post-fix and it finds utility mostly as a travel gun due to the fact...

Huben The magic of the Huben GK1

Airgun guru Bob Sterne previously described a “lofty goal” for PCP design to obtain 50% of theoretical maximum power for a given caliber, barrel length and pressure: https://hardairmagazine.com/ham-columns/how-to-obtain-the-maximum-power-from-a-pcp-air-rifle/ As Bob mentions, 50% of...

    RTI Some Mora

This angry looking beast showed up looking to marry my Viper 5-25 scope and get jiggly with some Altaros 40 grain slugs. Who am I to say no?

    Two mice, one pill!

Not exactly a trophy… … but it’s not easy to get one of these at 60y. Tagged with a Leshiy 2 .177 short shooting 10 grain Zan slugs at 905fps. Still shocked that this little rig, with just a 250mm barrel, can deliver those pills at 19fpe and is so accurate and quiet!

EDgun Leshiy 2 177 slug tune

Nothing revolutionary here but the info might be useful to others and I spent a lot of time testing and optimizing… My L2 .177 had been doing duty with a 500mm FX liner - see my old “Ratflex” thread for info. With Fall approaching, and then XC skiing, I felt a hankering to cut it down to the...

Zan .30 lead free pellets quick review

I’ve been looking for a lighter .30 pellet to quell the bark from my sidewinder mini. I was therefore excited to try the new Zan lead free option which is 37 grains. To be clear, I’d be very happy to use a lighter lead pellet but there simply aren’t any available. So let’s not have this...

Western Airguns Sidewinder - Easy hack for better efficiency and lower noise

Sidewinder (+Rattler?) fans, As you may know, the SW barrel can be moved closer to the magazine, reducing air loss and noise from the semi-auto action. However, when it is too close, the magazine stops advancing and you can get a blast of air on the cheek. Having taken mine to that point, I...

    Taipan Ugly/Beautiful

I haven’t posted much here of late but this seems especially worthy. Panthera 600 .22 has been my go to bench/slugger for the past 18mos. It shoots well and has proved reliable, so there’s no reason to dislike it. I guess I can say that the trigger annoys me some, but that doesn’t explain my...

    Huben Huben GK1 celebration

My GK1 (v1#67) just finished its 66th 150ct tin of .22 GTOs. That’s 9900 of em, costing in total more than I paid for the GK1. Since I’ve also shot at least 100 other projectiles (being conservative here), I’m calling this it’s 10000-shot celebration. In that time, it has actually just got...

    EDgun Project Leshiy 2 “RatFLEX”

My last winter (re)build/project involves my L2, which was a simple 177/250mm REPR that was used for pesting/plinking in the yard and backpacked for hiking and skiing. It was made redundant by my Huben GK1 and I wanted to repurpose it as a dedicated ratter. The goal is to shoot small Zan 177...

    N/A The semi-sisters

JFF on a rainy day: Huben GK1 .22; A very flexible performer, currently shooting GTOs at 900fps. Resume highlight: 1cm double tap on a coon head at 40y Leshiy 2 .177, 250mm; A determined ratter with a 5X prism and laser to score at any range, shooting Zan 10 grain slugs at 875fps with a...

FX Wildcat compact 22 and Altaros slugs👍

Another winter tinker that could be a long winded story but I’ll cut to the chase. It concerns my FX Wildcat, which has served duty in many configurations from 177 to 30 in compact (500mm) and sniper (700mm) form. It started out as a Mk3 tubed version and was converted to a BT through the...

    Huben GK1 trigger fix?

Having “fixed” the shroud on the GK1 to make it functional, I’m jonesing to address the slop in the trigger. The trigger mechanism is sublime but is marred by a loose linkage which is to my mind an oversight in fabrication. What I’m referring to here is the silver linkage bar in this photo...
