    Crosman 2100 Barrel Surface Rust

I use 000-grade steel wool, elbow grease, and WD-40. It takes a while but it works. The pitting is there to stay, but if the rifle shoots, that doesn't matter much. Cheers, J~

    Which chronograph?

I don't see a way to mount a clamp-on to the 392 Benjamin. Perhaps with an extension on the barrel? Craigslist and marketplace are good sources for more traditional models. I like my Caldwell. Cheers, J~

    Crosman Estate sale find

Nice! No scope grooves on the receiver and a squared stock at the tang? If so, it's a first-gen model. Cheers, J~

Accuracy testing new pellet brands and weights

^ That. It's been my experience that velocity doesn't make a huge difference in how accurate a pellet will be unless serious cross-winds are involved. Bolting the (PCP or Co2) gun securely to a bench, then shooting five five-shot groups at a given distance will give you a very good idea of...

    Please Explain

I imagine that regulations, taxes, and the cost of living in your state have quite a bit to do with it. Here in N.C., an eye exam and two pairs of eyeglasses were less than $250 a couple of years ago. But then, I negotiated and paid cash. I did the same when out there, but they weren't nearly...

My least expensive rifle an scope!

Now... That looks like a fun gun to shoot! None of the problems with the high cost of pellets, pellet-picky magazines, inaccurate barrels, accidental double feeds, loud muzzle cracks annoying the neighbors, no pumping necessary, nor is there a need to mess with a compressor, nitrogen or co2...

    Other PUMPER COMPARISON

Wow. That was a LOT of work! Interesting findings, too. Thanks. It loads just fine with LibreCalc on Linux Mint. I figured the Sheridan would be up there. (I still favor the Crosman 760 for sentimental reasons.) Cheers, J~

    Benjamin 2600 re-seal

I haven't worked on that particular pistol so I can't offer much in the way of guidance, but I found the owners manual. It has the parts list as well. There's some good information there. Youtube may have some info that will be of help, too. I do know that regular rubber o-rings don't work...

    Refinishing safety

^ I feel ya. I saw a few things in over twenty years working as an environmental consultant. I did a few stints in industrial hygiene as well. 'Dose makes the poison.' Controlling exposure as much as possible is one of the keys, but then you know that. The PEL (permissable exposure limit)...

    Crossman 760, so disappointing.

I ran across an original in a catalog earlier. This is the one my brother had in '67. Those were the days... Cheers, J~

Good stuff! You are a fortunate father. Cheers, J~

    Springer vs. PCP

Welcome! If you're not interested in all the extra equipment that a PCP entails, consider a co2 powered gun. Also, you can't hold a springer the same way you would a 30.06 and get good results. If you look up "artillary hold" it will cover what's necessary to be accurate when shooting a...

    Crossman 760, so disappointing.

Jalan, If you live close enough, I have one that you're welcome to come and get. I had set it aside for a neighbor's kid, but he's turned out to be quite the turd. (I caught him chucking rocks at one of my pooches, among other things.) It could probably use refreshing, but will serve the...

    Crossman 760, so disappointing.

I feel ya, Jalan. They are nothing near what they once were. But, some shopping around will likely turn an old one up. I see an old one every few weekends at the swap-meet. They usually need work, but parts are available and they aren't hard to rebuild. Cheers, J~

Crosman Crosman Model 140 2nd Variant

That's a nice example of a good rifle. I tend to go over the rust on the old ones with fine grade steel wool and a little WD-40. A little oil after that keeps them from continuing to rust. I like them to look their age. Nostalgia, I guess. Cheers, J~

Diana I cant disassemble my 240

Is there a pin in that rear scope mount? If it goes in the spring tube, it could be the problem. Pull the scope mounts off and see what happens. Cheers, J~
