    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

Thanks! Well, after you went to all that trouble...I don't see anything that looks amiss. Hopefully one of our sharper-eyed forum mates will do better.

    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

For many years the HW 50 was made in two versions. The cheaper "HW 50M" typically had the simple sights and Perfekt trigger, and the upmarket "HW 50S" had the better sights and Rekord, but it was easy enuff to mix'n'match parts. There were also upgrade stocks available. Air Rifle HQ was the...

    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

Another idea on the ill-fitting breech block - I've actually seen this one before! If the gun has been triggered off at some point, that can bend the long cocking link. This makes it slightly shorter, and prevents the breech from fully rotating back into its fully-locked position. A...

    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

(EDITED) No, it's a correct HW sight, used on less expensive models back in the day. Note how the front of it fits correctly into the wide longitudinal slot on the breech block - and BTW it does have a simple "screw'n'slide" windage adjustment. But oddly, the distance between the two screw holes...

    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

Per the original post, the problem with the sight is that it won't go LOW enough (he had to aim at the bottom of the big plate to hit the center, then he wedged down the sight with the allen key!). Again, it looks as if the elevation screw just isn't engaged in the breech block's threads.

    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

The sight elevation screw looks to be about the right size (should be about 11mm tall per pic below), but it's not threaded into the breech block at all? Possibly it's a new replacement for an older original - HW sights typically sit much lower than that. I don't know...weird.

    HW/Weihrauch HW50 , the challenge continues

Random thoughts: 1. Serial number is from 1972 or '73. The original HW 50 of 1950-1998 is a different gun from today's (first called the HW 99). The new receiver tube has the same exterior dimensions but the innards are much revised. 2. That's a crazy amount of barrel droop, I've been into a...

N/A old man that is newby to air guns

Keep in mind it's not just about velocity, but energy - a function of projectile mass, and the square of its velocity. Yes, a powerful airgun can have muzzle velocities approaching that of a shotgun load or rimfire bullet, but with a projectile that is lighter and less ballistically efficient...

    HW/Weihrauch Hw30/Olympia Hobby pellet test.

Interesting! New to me...based on your notes I won't immediately order up a couple sleeves, lol, but will give a tin a try when I see 'em in a store.

N/A old man that is newby to air guns

I'm still hung up on the groundhog thing, and agree wholeheartedly with Mycapt65. An airgun strong enough to cleanly kill an animal that size is gonna lean toward a PCP that is darn near as loud as your rimfire, so if it's legal at your location, I too would favor subsonic .22lr ammo. If you...

Crosman Ever buy from Airgun Classfied Ads? 167 Crosman

It's always good to request a photo from a seller you don't know, proving actual ownership of the item in question. I like to ask for a pic of the item with a common, but slightly off-the-wall, household item included - a coin, spoon, pencil, etc.

    N/A Swing and a miss...

Almost every state uses hunting and fishing license fees to finance wildlife conservation / management efforts they pursue, together with private donations and grants from various federal departments. The latter is rapidly disappearing, so unfortunately it's not likely that fees will decrease.

Other Who repairs vintage Walther springer airguns.

A few random notes: + Walther never made a recoilless springer (though the LGV is so heavy it comes close). They went straight to a single-stroke pneumatic action with the legendary LGR sidelever in 1974...a rifle so good, they ended up shrinking the UIT 10M target! + With all the Walther LG...

N/A Midewest Airgun show What did you get?

Excellent! I had that for 15+ years and very seldom shot it, so am happy it went to someone who will enjoy it. I wanna say I looked up the serial at some point and it was made in 1966?

That is a VERY cool air rifle! Pretty much an instant collectible too.

Another recc for Dave Slade, he's the best. You can get parts from various sources (JG Airguns, others in the UK and Germany), but generally I would say they are harder to find than HW stuff, and the guns a bit tricker to work on.

N/A Midewest Airgun show What did you get?

Kind of a weird show for me! Regretfully sold a couple of old pals, but I ended up with: + Most of the money went for a BOAT LOAD of spare parts from Mike Abernethy's table! Primarily Weihrauch stuff, but also a minty Diana Diopter 60 sight, Walther rifle sight inserts, FWB pistol sight blades...

DAYAM, man...nice work. People like you remind me that I am much more of an airgun gatherer, than an airgun shooter, LOL...!

Traditional Rifle Old Diana trigger blades needed

Bit of a long shot, but I need some of the old plastic or solid alloy blades, as fitted to the post-war ball-sear rifle models 25D - 27 - 35 - 50 - see photo below. Would happily consider additional trigger components, whole or partial parts guns, etc., if they include these - thanks!
