    Video of 2024 Squirrel Smash

Dang, I got sidetracked and forgot about the shot cycle... Eyeball or bino a target. Range find if needed. Set parallax on scope. One press on the camera button (Tactacam is much better than the phone/sideshot I used to use). Safety off, mount the gun and then settle in for the shot. For...

    Video of 2024 Squirrel Smash

Video does add another step to setting up a shot. My usual workflow is; approach the spot while scanning for movement, kill ATV motor, grab the range finder to pre-range landmarks = 45 yards to the landmark on the left and 60 yards to my landmark on the right. Dial the scope to the Point Blank...

    Video of 2024 Squirrel Smash

The zoom of the FFP scope makes it hard to tell distances from the video. I run 10x to 20x most of the time. My point blank zero is 20-35 yards, and that is my preferred distance. I usually set up within that range on my intended target if possible. The drainage ditch is about 15 yards wide...

    Video of 2024 Squirrel Smash

1st off - I know the camera is not straight with the cross hairs - my bad. The gun was re-built over the winter with a new valve stem and spring. My distances are not dialed in yet. It was nice this a.m., but it got to 110 degrees towards noon. It was only during video selection and editing...

    Wind, and groupings.

The air/wind does not act as monolithic block. It swirls, lifts, drops and shears constantly. One way to visualize the wind current is to use kid's bubble solution. Blow a string of bubbles and watch how each bubble moves in different directions and at different rates. From bubble to bubble...

    GX CS4 Power Supply Issues

FWIW - your car battery is capable of several hundred amps output. 450 cold cranking amps for small cars and 800+ for larger trucks.... BUT and it is a large BUT.... your car battery is not designed to give that power for very long. It is recommended that you let the alternator do the work...

Another good year at Raton for the Kid's shooting competition. Littlest one did not make it to the award stage this year, but she did have a breakthrough on the practice range and managed to level-up on three critical skills. She was shooting a new shotgun, a new (to her) Ruger. She set a...

Super low power from Kral Puncher Mega

Did you adjust the hammer spring tension? How much does your hammer weigh? How big is your Transfer port? How big is your valve port? Is your barrel lined up with the TP? My crystal ball subscription ran out.... can't read minds.

Super low power from Kral Puncher Mega

The TP is on the opposite side of the barrel from the set screw indents. Take out the set screws and look through the holes. Does the indent on the barrel match up with the set screw hole? If not, turn the barrel until it does. then reinstall the set screws.

N/A What caliber is best for 50yds bench rest .

The rules of your specific contest may or may not allow certain calibers and or power levels (or trigger mechanisms.) You are getting closer to your knowledge that you seek. What game do you want to compete at? N50 will allow up to .30 pellets....but the expense per shot goes waaaay higher...

N/A What caliber is best for 50yds bench rest .

In short, there is not short answer in the world of Airguns. There is NO DEFINITIVE BEST, or any other -EST (flat-est, best-est, quiet-est). It all depends (TM) on a multiple of factors.

Sorry, I got lazy. Should have been typed as Pellet Nutation

N/A What caliber is best for 50yds bench rest .

You have two completely different questions in your thread. Flattest Trajectory (TM) is simply a factor of muzzle velocity, retained velocity and scope height above bore. How are you with differential calculus? Accuracy is 100 times more involved than a function of ballistic coefficient...

    I get aggravated at myself

I understand. When I was into R/C airplanes, I was disappointed when the maiden flight went perfectly. When there was nothing left to improve, I felt let down. We build/tune our performance hobbies to the best of our ability. Once it has peaked, there is no real drive to go back to it...

Pesting videos… Short and Sweet! 👍 Too long? 🙈

Here is the format that I have adopted. In this example, 1:41 long with only the crucial moments included. I don't like to rehash over and over, trusting the viewer to rewind if they want to see some twice. 14 scenes in a short film...

We Need A New Forum Section For Machine Work

Wow, heavy-impact, I must have hurt some feelings to get that emotional response. You need a hug? Still no action with the 100's of machine threads just waiting to be placed in a new playground? Surprised, I am. With the demise of controversial sales, trades, design and discussion.... You...

    Chokes and velocity

I have not kept current on this thread. I do have a Big Horn hammer that I bought to put in my PB. It is too long by a good measure. It is very heavy and has a very small spring cavity. It is yours if you will PM me your address. I don't have a scale, but can get you dims if you want...

    Standing monopod/bipod/tripod options

Yes, all things are going to be relative. Distance, size of target, expectations for precision all those will color our experience and are hard to quantify over the 'net. Take your time to fully enjoy what you have and learn all you can before getting too caught up with the cool-kids and the...
