    N/A Where to begin

PCPs often have a steep depreciation. A few maintain / gain value but basically most PCP buyers buy new stuff and the secondhand market is pretty soft. Which is to say, a 5 or 10 year old PCP by Daystate or Theoben, tuned by Allen or someone else, can still be very affordable. And they will...

    HW/Weihrauch Leaving springers cocked.

Vehicle suspension springs are designed to handle several times their curb weight before reaching max capacity. Putting them on jackstands is only removing a small portion of their design load. Airgun springs when cocked are at their max design load. How much additional capacity depends on...

    RAW hm1000x new accessories!

There is only one action bolt - I don't mind swapping stocks. But carrying around an extra stock is more of an issue if you want to change during a range day.

In search of perfect benchrest scores

Thank you for sharing this. This is super helpful. I and a friend of mine have spent about six months learning/perfecting our 20-25y benchrest performance and it's a long slow journey. We shoot both indoors at 20y and outdoors at 25y+. Fliers do drive us nuts. Tins of pellets make a big...

Tuning RAW HM1000X and Huma 1174 adjustable regulator problems

I don’t think it’s a performance issue. The Huma takes up a bit less plenum volume and allows adjustment by removing the bottle only so that should make tuning easier.

    RAW hm1000x new accessories!

The RAW benchrest rifles are coming from Martin at Airguns USA. He’s combined the BM and TM into one series and produces them. I do not know about these accessories but he’s the one to ask.

    A new alternative scopecam

My Schmidt and Bender looks mildly ridiculous on my Thomas so this has inspired me to add a dish antenna

    Airgun Community Support

I think the main changes have been: - More options for pellets - More, cheaper compressor options, more scuba and paintball shops that can do 4500 psi fills. - Many, many more PCP airguns, especially if you like chassis stocks - a ton of info on YouTube (not all of it is good) - Fewer springer...

    Pay pal

If you’re hoping they will apply that rule in a thoughtful consistent way you’re hoping for too much. PayPal will generally screw the seller and close the case. Distinctions like the difference between a firearm and airgun and likely to be ignored.

    N/A Where to begin

What is in/near CdA is arguably the best PCP airgun tuner in the world, Allen Zasadny. He’s a busy guy and a tremendous resource. So once you get a good pcp or two you’ll want to reach out and introduce yourself. You will read about both slugs and pellets. I suggest you avoid slugs because...

Functional versus Superior Quality: Finding Value in Airgunning

There is definitely a trade off to be had. 1) If accuracy and target shooting is your pursuit, this could be much more costly. 2) If you want a gun to carry in the field and have minute of squirrel accuracy, a good springer will take you where you want to go. 3) If it’s whacking tin cans or...

    Thormolds, anyone swaging with them?

I’ll hopefully have mine to talk about it next weekend

    Sorting pellets by viewing

Inconsistent raw material will certainly cause errors because production swaging tools are not perfect and have flexibility and clearances and I'm sure that material of uneven hardness will result in an uneven shape. The speed of the machine, wear condition of the swaging die faces, cleanliness...

    Sad day for me...

Good luck. Provincial game law enforcement is spotty but stout. I hope you can resolve it and get back to doing good with the proper permitting in place.

Do .177 Pellets Ricochet Off Metal Targets

Oof. I watched that and it is dry. But well done. Here are my takeaways: Long story short, lead does not create fully inelastic collisions against harder / heavier targets. Like steel. The projectile or pieces of it will bounce back a little bit on an angle. How much bounce back and on...

    How accurate is your chronograph?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in metrology it’s that really good numbers are rarely accidental. I’ve seen a LabRadar tick off the same velocity within 1fps 5 shots in a row (1000y BR competitor testing a really good load around 3100fps) so my conclusion is LabRadar is the gold standard for...

    How accurate is your chronograph?

Does a NIST traceable chronograph exist? And why would it matter - it’s not like a slightly out-of-spec chronograph is going to mean much. Our ballistic models are still only approximations and shot to shot variance is much more significant. The chronograph accuracy studies I’ve seen have...
