Silicone is a poor cleaning agent. Ballistol is good for mild cleaning and lubrication. WD-40 is good for cleaning also.

I think you will find that wind, as with most variables, does not have a linear relationship to your groups or scores. A heavier slug, shot from a well matched barrel, would probably be influenced less by that wind condition, but it might not be what you would expect. As always, shoot and see.

I've tuned mine down to 11 fpe, and it's darn near silent.

I've owned both, and the HW100 is quieter. Plus, it's much more tunable than the Daystate, and a better trigger. If you get the laminated stock version, then you get an adjustable comb, which I find very desirable.

Assuming a constant of 12 fpe, I think the caliber makes no practical difference. Generally, I prefer a .177 at that power level, but again, at 15 yards it makes no difference, IMO.
