I was not aware that the "new style" shoe was a direct replacement. I took " new style " to mean that is was specific to newer production rifles. I installed the original design. Sounds like I may have to do it again one day.

Yes. Evidently, these shoes were a weak point in the design.

Thank you. Typically the shoe will become deformed and may drag or bind on the cocking/closing stroke. Often times, they'll break without warning, usually as the rifle is being cocked. When the shoe breaks, the rifle will not cock and may actually lock up. It's very easy to see if there's any...
