I never need to clean my barrel -- am I the only one?

A couple of years ago I became so dissatisfied with the quality control of the Crosman pellets that I gave most of them away. I noticed right off that my barrels didn't need cleaning as often. I only clean them now when accuracy suffers. So using pellets that overly lead your barrel you...

What Airgun do you have that you would never get rid of for any reason?

My Weihrauch HW97K in .177 cal that I bought from Greg Neely in pristine condition. He had Scott Schneider (Motorheads AG Tuning Services) customize the mainspring with his guide and top hat there has been no need for any further modification.

Help me understand the reasoning with regards to high end springers

I only shoot springers. I started out with a Crosman Genesis NP, accuracy was okay out to about 25 yards. Then I bought a Benjamin Prowler and I had the same results as the Genesis. I put GRT III triggers in them which helped alot. Then I started buying cheap refurbished Hatsan and Ruger rifles...

    Hawke Warranty Experience?

I have had great luck with Hawke Airmax AMX scopes, I have five on my Weihrauch rifles and a new Airmax 4-12x40 waiting to be mounted on my Diana 460-.22. I will continue to buy them. I've never had a need to return one.

What distance do you zero your scope?

Different rifles, different zeros. I have some at 25, 30, and my Diana 34 with a 40 yd zero

HW/Weihrauch Removing bolt on R9 receiver

Years ago I ordered a set of gunsmith screwdriver bits to use when tinkering on my guns. Using the correct size screwdriver on any screw and especially flatblade screws is essential to prevent stripping the head.

Other Your recommendations for best "box store" springers....

Same here, I tool the plastic stock off and replaced it with a Vantage wooden stock. Actually a pretty good shooter but I did put a GRT III trigger in it.

    What got you started?

Years ago the price of 22lr ammo skyrocketed when the availability plummeted due to hoarding. The price of Firearm ammo and reloading components and supplies also increased in price and decreased in availability. Some of that has carried on today. "Guns" have always been a major hobby. So I...

How Often do you shoot ALL your guns ? For those with many airguns

I just read the OP question for a second time. How Often do you shoot ALL your guns ? For those with many airguns. Well I need to revise my answer. NEVER! Some of my earlier refurbs I bought when I got in to the hobby I'll never shoot again.

What springer did you shoot today?

Just plinking today, first with my R9 and then I grabbed my Diana 34. Both rifles shoot the FFT 4.52 equally well. Both capable of hitting 1/2" spinners at 30 yards repeatedly. Today it was windy so I move the spinner rack to 25 yds.

    Cleaning products

I hate the smell of Balistol but I use it and definitely recommend it. Hoppes #9 has a lovely smell and I use it for fouling in my powderburners, buy never tried it on my airguns.

    Bunny Busted

We enjoy watching all the wildlife. Over my lifetime I've killed thousands of critters ... now at 70 years if age I give them a pass. Except when I kill for food (Deer). I only kill poisonous snakes, coyotes, and the occasional critter if it is destructive. I guess your bunny fell under the...

Anyone else spent way too much money on this hobby?

I'm Springer only except for a couple of pumpers and a few co2. When I started into this hobby ten or twelve years ago I ordered cheap Crosman springers then the Turkish variety mainly refurbs and Chinese clones and tinkered to make them better. After acquiring ten or so and putting cheap UTG...
