N/A What air pistol do you use for pest control?

Back when I had a rat problem (due to keeping messy parrots on a porch), a Browning 800 Mag springer pistol came in handy. Same as Hatsan's Mod 25, it put out around 7 ft# and was springer quiet (no air noise just piston noise). That pistol took some practice to shoot accurately; if I had to...

    Best of Non-Lead Pellets?

I'm finding that the larger caliber lead free pellets can be accurate further. Maybe that is the same with lead projectiles, as I understand the extreme benchrest competitors are shooting .30s, not .25s or .22s. But then the larger calibers are even more expensive :-( As for lead pellets...

    Best of Non-Lead Pellets?

FYI, Trenier Airguns currently has a sale on GTO .177 for $9.99 per tin of 200. Not cheap in for a .177 pellet but cheap for THAT pellet.

    Pellet skirts

Welcome to the AGN! I give the pellets a once-over while I'm shooting and put the rejects into an old cat food tin. Then I use those for close range zeroing, velocity tests and such. I think bent skirts ge fixed in a springer but ragged skirts will fly funny.

    source for inexpensive pellets

Take a look here: https://www.dpciwholesale.com/wholesale-airgun-ammo/?sort=quantity&sort_direction=1 Some of the Daisies are well under a penny per pellet. I've bought pellets and airguns from DPCI wholesale before without issues. They'll ask that you place an order of at least $100, and...

    Best of Non-Lead Pellets?

I've been eying Powerstroke's offer of 16 tins of those in .22 for $200, shipped! https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/h-n-baracuda-green-22-cal.1332271/ I still have half a dozen tins so feel free to beat me to it.

Hatsan .177 Air Tact BRAKE BARREL

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean – neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master——that’s...

Diana How long can a springer be left cocked before spring degradation?

You Sir, are the Experimentalist! Thank you for that observation that disproves my hypothesis, which is now abandoned.

Diana How long can a springer be left cocked before spring degradation?

That is how I store my break-barrels, for both those reasons. And I store coil springers barrel-up to keep the spring greases and oils from migrating to the cylinder, and air-springers barrel-down so the gas ram seals stay moist.

Pellets or slugs close range coyote?

Try loading the pellets backwards (skirt first) and shooting, say, some melons. If it is accurate enough at that distance it might be what you're looking for.

    Tuning Crowning your barrel

The only time I've done such a thing was when there was a problem. Probably every other cheapo airgun that I've had suffered a burr or some such imperfection in the crown area. All were resolved by the brass domed screw head trick, just twirling it between my fingers while rotating the barrel...

    Home made projectiles?

Oh, right, I typically shoot into a box filled with rags and shake out the pellets once in a while. I started with commercial pellets, then began to melt those down and re-cast. So my raw material is recycled old lead-free pellets. I'm probably about 50/50 now, new/recycled, shooting new...

    Home made projectiles?

The commercial tin based "green" pellets are readily available online (Pyramyd, Trenier, AoA, Midway). They're not available at my local Big5 Sporting Goods, even in this eco-green-no-hazmat Bay Area. In .22 they run from 10 to 13 grains, and in .25 from 16.5 to 20 grain, roughly only 2/3 the...

New coyote laws and regs coming to CA? Not pet or child friendly!

This story? https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2012/02/03/bow-hunter-pleads-guilty-to-killing-mountain-lion/ In that case it reads $600 and likely getting the bow back, and a lesson learned about sticking to one story (and one might suggest to draft that story with one's lawyer first).

New coyote laws and regs coming to CA? Not pet or child friendly!

Yep, we got 'yotes in the Bay Area too. They eat the cat food (both meanings), left outside. I lost a cat last winter to them, a house cat raised friendly with dogs that didn't stand a chance. The feral cats around here grow up mean. A neighbor recently left flyers around asking to help...
