For alignment and safety purposes I milled a flat on the back side of the threaded rod post. It allows the set screw to clock the threaded rod and won’t allow it to rotate.

Cool gun I’m glad you found one. My dad had one from the early to mid 70’s I think. It had plastic stocks instead of wood and all metal. Dad threw it out when it quit holding air.
