Is .25 cal at sub 12ft/lb effective at taking down pests

My close range rabbit rifle is a Leshiy Classic shooting .25 Polymags at around 460 FPS. I really like it. Biggest advantage is that I have basically eliminated pass throughs. It is also quieter although impact is subjectively louder. The trajectory has not been a problem at all and actually...

long eye relief (16 + inches ) adjustable parallax pistol scopes ?

Look up the specs for the AIM Sports 3-12x32 Scout Scope. I believe it is an AO scope with over 20" listed eye relief at 3x. I have heard of it being used as a pistol scope due to its long eye relief at lower magnification.

Yes. I can spare one if you can't find inventory.

    Pic riser help

Found the riser. It fits a 3-slot rail. It is 1/2" tall. My recollection is that picatinny risers are always 1/2" tall minimum. The only exception I found were 3D printed risers for airsoft. I do not recall any of those having cantilever that would allow the three to five slot transition that...

    Pic riser help

@Dairyboy I'm looking for my LG riser now so I can see if it fits a 3-slot rail. Forgot I had this picture from when I tried to put a Spitfire 5x prism on a Leshiy. Is something like this what you're looking for, assuming the top could be shortened? .

    Pic riser help

I feel like Lion's Gear has a cantilevered riser thar fits your description. It might be more that five on top, however, but that could be cut down?

N/A What " One gun " to buy

How do these HW90s do with elevation changes? Or any gas ram for that matter? My house is at ~3500' elevation & our cabin is around 1200' higher. I haven't shot my HW30 over a chronograph in years but it was shooting slower than what many report. Ideally would like a .22 that would shoot...

LPVO for a PCP - good focus under 30yds? 10yds?

Which Athlon? The Helos BTR 1-4.5x24 that both @TimeRabbit & myself mentioned is a SFP scope. Athlon does make FFP LPVOs, however.

LPVO for a PCP - good focus under 30yds? 10yds?

I would be wondering the same thing. I just don't know. For sure I would be tempted to try the Vortex if it's a good deal & would be easy to sell if you found you needed a clearer image at the distances you use it. Unfortunately I have no experience with either. Two other bang for your buck...

LPVO for a PCP - good focus under 30yds? 10yds?

I would add the Athlon 1-4.5x24 to your search. It occasionally pops up on Dvor for well under MSRP. It is heavy but has side focus. I would have tried on already but the short eye relief does not play nice with Leshiys.

LPVO for a PCP - good focus under 30yds? 10yds?

I forgot to mention that if for only daytime pests in my yard I could live without side focus. I do like SF for shooting indoors at 14 yards and/or the occasional longer shooting session. I also prefer to have side focus so I have the option for a night vision clip-on. If I wanted variable...

LPVO for a PCP - good focus under 30yds? 10yds?

What is your budget? What magnification range is acceptable? I use a Stryka 1-6x24 on my pest rifle. It has side focus & to my eye focuses to 9 yards at max power. Reticle is illuminated but is only a thin duplex. I would much prefer a holdover reticle for the times I take it in the...

EDgun Got my Leshiy back, .22 or .25?

I wouldn't turn up HST then, only down.

EDgun Got my Leshiy back, .22 or .25?

Make sure you don't go above the first velocity peak. Have you figured that out yet? Once you do, I would recommend getting not going above approximately 95% to 97% of that. You can try short dwell tunes below 95% but don't try to increase power by going above.

EDgun Got my Leshiy back, .22 or .25?

I looked up an old .22/250mm tune. Huma reg at 95 bar. 240 bar fill. I got 25 shots averaging 720 FPS with the JSB 18.1 grain. I'm sure a few or more of these shots were off the regulator. I do not have that recorded. In .22 too much higher than this & I found the short barreled Leshiy...

EDgun Got my Leshiy back, .22 or .25?

Hit reply to soon. Also want to comment that I believe you can achieve your goals with either caliber. If you prefer the trajectory, cost, accuracy, etc of one them, I think you can get over 15 shots. But comparing both calibers with a 95% of FVP tune at around 24 FPE, I find .25 to have a more...

EDgun Got my Leshiy back, .22 or .25?

I'm guessing the HP designation is to distinguish it from the shorter valve stem uses in the sub-12 kit. For a Leshiy Classic & a high shot count tune I prefer .25. Something about the size of the transfer port allows a lower reg and/or HST setting in 0.25. With a lighter pellet you can tune...

    Whistle Pig

I didn't know they made a bourbon. I've had a few of their rye whiskeys. All were good or even better than good. If you're going to shoot one of these I recommend waiting until they shed their coats & turn clear.

    LPVOs mini quest

Another (occasionally) inexpensive LPVO with a large exit pupil is the Sightmark Pinnacle 1-6x24. It has a listed exit pupil of 24mm at 1x. I put occasionally in quotes as it often goes on sale for well below $400 & refurbished ones below $300. And when they do go on sale it often lasts for...

    Primary Arms prism scope

I have shot the 1x SLX Micro & 2X GLX inside of 14 yards at home. I don't believe I noticed any parallax error but the 2x was a bit out of focus when shooting indoors at or inside 14 yards. Both of these optics have forgiving eye relief & were usable when mounted well forward of the listed ER...
