Is .25 cal at sub 12ft/lb effective at taking down pests

Perfectly good for rabbits and squirrels at short distance. To put it into perspective, a JSB 25.4gr at 12fpe equates to a muzzle velocity of 460fps. That’s a lumbering velocity by most pest control standards. For animals with tougher hide or bone, that may not be fast enough to properly...

    New Gun

Regarding waxing the bore, here's a lengthy thread on the subject that covers types of wax, preparation, application methods, etc. For the insatiable reader. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/wax-and-gun-bores.669464/

Air Venturi Replacement gauge for avenger

Since the OEM gauge is smaller (8mm) than a 1/8" NPT tap drill (letter R or approx 8.61mm), you could in fact drill and tap if you want. That said, I'd get one of the $10 replacement gauges any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

DAR Any good DAR Gen3s out there?

I like my .25 cal. It consistently puts a JSB heavy on an aspirin at 50 yards and lays the smack down on raccoons. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/proving-out-a-rifle-for-nighttime-pest-control-dar-25-cal.1299355/

    Breech o-ring killers ???

A breech O-ring generally wears out over time due to abrasion. So for example, the Eun Jin / Seneca pellets on the right produce four (4) points of contact rather than two (2) for a conventional diabolo pellet. So unless they are also an abnormally larger diameter, they could be expected to...

    Too Tight Pellets???

Very rare that any reputable brand of pellet is oversized to the extent that loading is so problematic so I would say try one of 8 - 10gr domed pellets from JSB/FX/Air Arms, H&N, or RWS. In the event it were to still be an issue, look into applying a slight bevel / bell mouth at the breech to...

    Cleaning products

I've used Hoppes #9 for cleaning the bore of my air rifles for years. My breech and bolt O-rings, whether Buna-N or polyurethane, always end up failing due to wear (abrasion). When removed, they show no detectable difference in compliance of the sort you would expect from chemical degradation...

Do Pellets with BB Tips exist on the market?

A hard tip is theoretically beneficial for penetration, but the number of real world scenarios where insufficient penetration is a problem is few to none when simply using a conventional domed pellet. And in most cases a quality domed pellet will be more accurate, which is of far greater...

Where to buy AA Field Diabolo 8.44 gr pellets?

Regarding JSB label, Air Arms label, or FX label...my experience has been that I have about equal odds of getting a good batch. Or in other words, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a few tins of the FX 8.4 from Trenier at $12 ea. Still slightly cheaper than Pyramyd’s inflated buy-3-get-1-free...

Tuning Re cutting the crown on an air rifle barrel.

One approach is to size the pilot to the choke. The pilot needn’t be so long that it extends past the choke. Another approach is to use an expandable pilot that locks into the bore, and allow the pilot to spin within the cutter head.

Tuning Re cutting the crown on an air rifle barrel.

A plain pilot carries a moderate risk of damaging the lands. A floating pilot is pretty safe by comparison.

    PCP cold bore

The usual reason: slight regulator creep + excess hammer spring tension.

    The 1st shot/Cold bore shot?

Most likely the hammer spring tension is adjusted heavy (operating on the velocity plateau or close to it).

    Notos leak

In my experience, O-rings from practically any reputable vendor are a safe bet. Where it can get sketchy is with the cheap assortments sold by Aliexpress, Amazon, eBay, or similar. Even then, mostly just benign parting lines/flashing from what I’ve seen, not necessarily with the material itself...

Power plenum and low power shots.

Yes, if taking a very small sip of air from a large plenum, the pressure drop may be insufficient to open the regulator’s valve seat a meaningful amount. However if the effect is a wide ES, it is an indication of a system imbalance…something that can very likely be remedied or improved...

DAR Dar Gen III leaking from main valve body.

A slow leak there usually indicates the poppet isn't sealing completely. You can use a light abrasive slurry (ballpark of 600 - 1000 grit) to lap the surfaces together. Color the mating surfaces with a black Sharpie or dye, then spin the surfaces together for a short time, and wipe it clean...

RAW Rapid Question about Reg/HS/Hammer Efficiency

Just a quick question and comment. Are you speaking of the HM1000X with a 480cc bottle? If so, running your numbers says its efficiency is in the ballpark of 1.50fpe/ci. That's very good for a .22 running at nearly 50fpe.
