Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

We are not supposed to discuss internals on here so I won't, but anything you can think of is usually, but not always, better than nothing. The times we live in.

You're right, they should have had a simple core in the moderator. I like how it goes on, a strong design. I just threw some simple junk in the moderator and it works so well I forgot about it, or mentioning it. The regulator adjusting is very easy and worth doing if you are not getting the...

Some final points after going through another tin of JSB's (this time with good accuracy), and a couple more scope swaps. I am not going to talk anybody into buying, or not buying, this gun, just giving my impression of it. First off, it feels good and looks like quality. It's not a...

Mediocre guns...we have all bought 1 or 2

Yes, but... I have owned two for the past 40 years and you got to remember, back in the day these were the Caddilacs of airguns and I killed a lot of pests out to 50y, offhand, on the regular. They earned the hype by me, that's for sure. You are very much correct though, they cannot compare to...

Mediocre guns...we have all bought 1 or 2

I have not been beaten by a supposed "bad airgun" yet. I have gotten them all shooting well with a lot of time, money, or both. Were they worth it? Only to me, and what I learned in the process, a fair trade. I got my butt kicked by an old Mosin Nagant though.

An FYI on the Discovery 2-12x 24mm

The smear is light splatter from the illumination ON the reticle, NOT the reticle itself. Look people, I'm done talking about this. I mentioned it mostly because I saw it twice and no one else has said anything about it. To all the sticklers out there for a perfect illumination experience...

An FYI on the Discovery 2-12x 24mm

The illuminated portion is a cloud about 10x thicker than the reticle and if you are not perfectly centered behind it, it increases in the direction you are off. If you are perfectly centered it is not unusable, just annoying. Again all powers, reticle is focused, parralax is set correctly, not...

An FYI on the Discovery 2-12x 24mm

The reticle always looks fine, no problems, it's only with the illumination turned on, even on the lowest setting. I'm not contacting anybody, because I'm keeping it. I like that it works in every other way and tracks correctly. I just wanted to give a heads up to other buyers and not really...

An FYI on the Discovery 2-12x 24mm

It is not a brightness issue. I don't know what is actually causing it either. I have never seen any other illuminated reticle that even hinted at doing what this does, and I find that stranger than the smearing itself. I still like the scope, and I put it back on my airgun. This one thing is...

You got your answers already. AB101, although some of the ballisticians on this site will dis' Dubber, he knows his stuff otherwise, a very good series. And yes, Steve, at AEAC, is very good with the charts and the tunes. Bob Sterne and Lloyd Sikes over at GTA are wealths of information too...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

I gotta say, I am relieved to have it shooting this well now. Everything comes together so well on it, and the barrel is so nicely crowned and the parts are machined as good as anything, that I couldn't really understand why it wasn't shooting better. I was beginning to think it was me, and old...

Secret Sauce Found! ... and it includes JSB 18.13gr pellets too. The final recipe included ingredients that I don't normally use, like speed, but it tastes sweet in this recipe. I have at this point changed my reg setting three times from the factory setting of 1600psi (L 2.048"). The first...

An FYI on the Discovery 2-12x 24mm

http://www.discovery-sports.com/product/Riflescopes/HD/2023/1226/218.html This is a 'heads up' post on the owner experience using this scope. I wouldn't have posted this on just my singular experience but I have now seen two examples that have the same flaw. First, I want to say that I love the...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

I really like the design of the factory moderator coming back over the shroud, this makes it way stronger if it gets knocked against a tree branch or something. If I had a 3d printer I would just make a core. Macavity is doing a core for the production model and if it is a legitimate attempt I...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

I regret posting my group photos because I actually wasn't on a good rest, or trying like it mattered, and even if I had been, I don't shoot groups that well anyway. A really good bench shooter could do much better. The magazines do need work, that's probably why they are coming out with metal...

Go back and look at my mag pic and you will see the post beneath the spring. That is in the channel and what holds the round in place to feed, the wheel has to spin around. Take your mag apart and you will see what I am talking about. You could plug the first hole you load, to stop firing on an...

You really can't because of how they're made, doing so would block further rotation. I was thinking of blocking the last position, but thought better of it because I didn't expect it would hold up.

The magazine wheel is on the thin side, it would be hard to work on. Just paint/mark the bad cylinders so that you don't load them, still have all the other shots left. I plan on getting the metal ones when they start selling them.

I dropped the speed down to 880fps and shot these groups @53y with a Discovery 2-12x compact scope. Those shots that look like fliers are actually my last shots each time. Whenever I have nice groups going, I do that. I wasn't using a rear rest either. I am overall happy with this, I was just...

First groups from 53 yards shooting JSB 18.13gr @892fps using a Bushnell Red dot. The dot covered most of these targets, and my eyes are going down hill, so I thought that this was actually very good. The black is three inches across. The actual group size was way smaller than the dot, and I...
