What a difference a bit of bling makes...

Thanks! The white liner is made from 1/16" rigid plastic sheet that I got from the craft store. I applied "Trewax" brand paste wax to the stock which was originally oil-finished. The Trewax leaves a nice satin sheen which I prefer for my hunting rifles. Cheers!

“Right” vs “Left” hand actions-why aren’t they swapped??

I'm right hand, right eye dominant and prefer a right side bolt/lever for my plinking/hunting guns where most shooting is done off hand. For my 10 meter airguns I keep my trigger hand on the grip and load with my left. I've switched the lever to the left side on my bench rifles for the same...

N/A What " One gun " to buy

Interesting read. Seem that all posts of this type have strong, polarized options. Don't know, I like a wide variety of airgun brands/types and keep an open mind to new offerings or disciplines. I respect other opinions and preferences even if mine differ. As far as "one gun", until someone...

    N/A Where to begin

I can only talk about what I like and why, you'll have to extract what applies to your interests. Plinking, pesting and a bit of squirrel hunting are my thing though tuning and precision shooting are gaining interest. Most of my shooting is done at less than 50 yards. That puts me in the...

Video link for the Girardoni rifle...

For those who like historic airguns, here’s a link to a video on the Girardoni rifle. Lots of interesting stuff…

    Cleaning solution for rifle barrels.

Ballistol here as well. I'd be careful using WD40 on any quality equipment - it's quite aggressive and can attack aluminum, brass and zinc. I destroyed several locks by lubricating them with WD40. WD40 is great for freeing rusty bolts, that's all I would use it for. As a side note. I prefer...

    Pellet Holder

I tie a lot of fishing flies out of foam. The best way to make the foam plugs and disks is to cut them our with a sharp edged piece of thin-walled tube. You can buy fly tying foam cutters (way over priced IMHO) but it is cheap and easy to make them from one of those telescopic...

What a difference a bit of bling makes...

Yeah, dangling pinkies does not feel right. I'm very fussy on how well a gun fits/feels. Think it's critical to good shooting and won't hesitate to modify a stock as needed. Nice job on the stock - looks great!

Thanks for the compliments guys! It was a fun little project. Cheers!

HW/Weihrauch I just wanted to post this purely out of my insatiable need for attention.

Great job! It's always nice to see a heavily used airgun well restored to working condition! Cheers!

    FWB FWB 300s Stock Finished

Nice job on the stock! Thanks for sharing your finishing methodology. Refinished mine as well - still had the original factory finished so it was easy to deal with. There were a couple of dents that steamed out to be invisible when done. I like to use thinned (to water viscosity) gloss...

What a difference a bit of bling makes...

Being average size (5 '11", 180 pounds) I'm lucky that most "standard" rifle stocks fit me pretty well and rarely require modifications. But I have large hands and while the stock on Crown was comfortable to shoot the grip was about 3/8" short for carrying one handed. I needed to add a piece...

Ok, i can wait to shoot...

Thanks for sharing your pictures! I am fortunate that I'm retired on 10 acres of property in a rural area, 3 of which are part of a 50+ acres beaver pond. With bush, fields, mature hardwoods and marsh it's a real diverse environment. Fur, feathers, scales and skin - mammals, birds, reptiles...

    Tuning ARH black tar ?

I've used Molybdenum grease (the base for all the "tars") and the various airgun "tar" greases for 50+ years with excellent results. More recently I've changed to "Lucas Oil Red "N" Tacky Grease" (aka: Almagard 3752 aka: Tune-in-a-tube) which works very well and is less messy than moly. Bonus...

Is it a good idea to buy a DAYSTATE MK3

I prefer mechanical to electronic airguns and am very pleased with my Wolverine R. That being said, I have had a pair of FAC HW100 PCPs (.177 and .22) for going on 10 years now and can highly recommend them. They are well designed, well made solid performers. Cheers!

    Wind, and groupings.

Yeah, plotting trajectory is child's play relative to doping the wind! I have wind flags every 5 yards on my 55 yard shooting lane - it's not unusual to see every flag pointing in a different direction 😬 My 128 yard lane has no flags (yet, a next winter project) where it crosses the swamp...

    How accurate is your chronograph?

Have a Beta Chrony, the FX Pocket Radar and a LabRadar and they are all close to the same reading - close enough that the position of the unit (in front, under the barrel, beside the muzzle) could account for the difference. I don't worry about the chronograph reading anymore than worrying...

FWB Am I the only one who can't shoot a FWB 124...?

Bought the FWB 124 new over 40 years ago and as my only airgun it saw a lot of use. Routine maintenance (clean, lub, tighten hardware and the occasional breech seal) kept it shooting well. I eventually had to replace the piston seal and changed the spring at the same time. Still sees regular...

FX DRS Pro, 22, Shipped Today

Yeah, Canada is a bit of an airgun backwater. Limited brands, limited selection because of the "no moderator" and no bullpups rules. So companies have to have Canadian versions approved for sale and low sales (relative to the US) volumes frequently don't make this market attractive. Seems...

FX DRS Pro, 22, Shipped Today

It's going to be a loooong weekend LOL! Enjoy your new airgun! It will be at least another month (probably two) before the .22/600mm DRS Classic will be available in Canada so I don't have a lot of sympathy 😉 Cheers!
