    Head shot thread

This one was shot with my P35-177 using H&N Baracuda FTTs going about 875 fps out the muzzle. I think the pellet went in the upper shoulder or neck and went up the neck and into the skull. It seems to be sticking out between the eyes but I didn't cut the skin on the head to see if the pellet...

Fps all over the place on BRK atomic regulated gun

If the regulator is not working you should get a bell shaped curve like it didn't have a regulator. Lower velocity at higher tank pressure, higher velocity as the pressure drops. My Caiman with a Huma regulator jumped around some at first, I found gobs of silicone grease on the springs...

I love you all! It has been a terrific ride! It is now time to begin my exit and move on.....

Nice post. I've only been airgunning for a few years after retiring but I hope I end as well. I share your affinity for a backyard range. It is legal where I live even though I have neighbors within 100 feet on each side. I only have 35 yards and to get that much requires shooting from my...

Just ordered my second pellet gauge

I am not shooting well today, shot a 191 earlier today from the 5.52 head size Baracuda 18s and seem to be shooting worse tonight. But I ran out of the 5.52s and starting shooting some 5.53s. I was fine tuning my POI at 30 yards and had it nailed down with the 5.52s just as I ran out. To my...

Just ordered my second pellet gauge

I've measured over 100 Baracuda 18s for head size and they were all 5.52 or 5.53 according to my gauge using my technique. That little bit of head size difference does not seem to affect accuracy at the relatively short range I'm shooting. I would expect to see that much variation in the H&N...

    .25 34gr Pellets - How fast?

My P35 will only push JSB MkII 33.95 pellets to about 800 fps. I had to put on an aftermarket 35cc (bigger) plenum to get them going that fast. The barrel is 450mm long and the hammer spring can only open the regulated chamber when the regulator is set below 150 bar. But it is accurate at...

    sun shade question?

I am facing east when I shoot from my bench to my trap at home. In the morning, there are times I just cannot shoot without a sunshade on the scope and a hat with a brim. I tried a honeycomb that came on one of my scopes and it did not do anything for me. But the long sunshade that came with...

    Snowpeak Snowpeak/Artermis P35 .177 FAC Thread

The bullshark was made by SPA, the manufacturer of the P35, but there are a few differences. The Bullshark has a 490mm barrel, the P35 has a 450mm barrel. The keep the gun the same length the Bullshark has a different baffle design in the shroud which seems to be very effective. I shot a 22...

New Spanish made bullpup - Norica Viriatus

The Norika looks a lot like my much less expensive P35s. I also bought a Caiman X earlier this year (for $1400). Mine had multiple issues with the regulator, I'll be curious if yours does too. The biggest issue is, I think, a design issue. The regulator was not venting the spring area to...

    Pellets from Amazon

I think the packaging shown in #27 helps. Seems to work better in the slightly padded envelope Amazon uses. My other theory is that keeping the weight down helps. Single tins, no multiples where the envelope weighs more and may slam into things in transit harder. But still it is a bit of a...

Just ordered my second pellet gauge

I don't have a problem with repeatability but the "measurement" you get with the pelletgage is definitely a matter of how you use it. If you just take the smallest hole the head will drop through it may be more consistent. What I do is wiggle it around a bit. I can get it to go through a...

    Snowpeak Snowpeak/Artermis P35 .177 FAC Thread

I have P35s in 177, 22, and 25. The only one I have not changed the regulator on is the 22, it's the most accurate as-is. All I did was reduce the spring pressure on the first stage (to near zero), reduce the second stage a little with a longer sear screw and set the hammer spring more...

Tuning New Artemis p15 dropping fps

Happy to help whenever I can. Not a lot of us wise enough to shoot SPA guns and their "manuals" are not much help. But fortunately their guns are pretty gun and a lot of fun to shoot.

    H&N Baracuda FT pellets (177)

The copper coated "power" 177 pellets shoot pretty well from my P35-177. My Prod absolutely LOVES the copper coated H&N FTTs in 22. It does not like unplated FTTs but shoots Crosmans pretty well. It's odd how guns have such strong preferences.

Tuning New Artemis p15 dropping fps

Looks a lot like the Huma in my Caiman. You need snap ring pliers to take off the snap ring and look at the bellville washers. In my Huma they were caked in silicone grease. I agree, that looks like a lot for the adjuster screw area but I don't understand what issue it would create. Having...

TUXING 4500PSI PCP Air Compressor Review

You probably have to move a jumper or something on the motor for it to operate on 220. There may be a diagram on a cover over where the power cord goes into the motor or in the manual. I don't agree 220V is better for the motor, however. The current in the wires going to the motor will be...

    Fill from empty...HELP!

Two common reasons a gun will not cock is the sear adjustment is set too light or the yokes which connect the airtube and barrel are mispositioned resulting in the trigger rod not being in the right position. The latter happens on bullpups. I think that is what the beeman underlever is. If...

Tuning New Artemis p15 dropping fps

Below the magazine is the chamber containing the hammer spring and hammer. In front of that area is where the valve is but it should be sealed from the hammer spring area pretty well. The small steel shaft the valve is attached to is hit by the hammer and protrudes into this area for this...

Help Me Decide. I Don't Want To Go Over My Yearly Fun Budget, What Would You Do.

I run my YH less than an hour a month. My PCPs are 25 caliber or less so they don't use a lot of air per shot. It's nearly 3 years old and running fine but I would be concerned if I ran it as much as you do. I hope you are using good oil. I also use more cooling to keep the temperature down...

For the newcomers on thinking this will be cheaper than powder burners.

I do not agree with the premise that PCPs are more expensive than PBs. I have only owned a PCP since I retired in late 2019 so I cannot comment on long term maintenance but all my 6 have needed is an occasional O-ring. You can't hardly buy one so I have lots. Maybe long term something else...
