FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

I have a 500mm .22. I am shooting 18gr 865 ish and 16gr 920 ish. I shot a cold shot this morning with the 18gr because their velocity is more consistent than a Hades. Not because of the gun. It’s because a Hades doesn’t have as consistent head size like their domed brethren. First shot was...

FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

Update. It’s more accurate at 2% but slightly more active. But I’m going to stay at 2% for now. Will check first shot in the morning.

FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

I just checked my DRS. They have it tuned 2% below the plateau. I moved it to 3%. I will check my first shot velocity over the next few days. If there’s an issue, I’ll move it back to 2% and see if it continues.

FX Anyone got there FX DRS in yet??

That’s funny. The look on someone’s face when they open the upgraded trigger box only to find 3 grub screws would be priceless. Can’t stop laughing.

FX Anyone got there FX DRS in yet??

Well this is when it pays to have a FX you don’t shoot much. Took the part out of my Dreamtac Compact trigger and put it in the DRS. Back in business. But……..here’s something interesting. In the picture you can see all the trigger pins have a grub screw in them on my Dreamtac. That’s so the pins...

FX Anyone got there FX DRS in yet??

I was sighting in after a barrel cleansing and my trigger dropped down so I just pulled it out of the gun. The trigger wheel that doesn’t have much tread engagement broke. Hopefully UA will have one. Looks like I’m done for a while. I did get a couple mags out of it. Nice little gun. True...

FX Anyone got there FX DRS in yet??

I just took my DRS out of the shipping box. Found the fill probe in the box and it felt a little rough. I haven’t even filled my gun yet and it’s already getting chewed up. They better offer a stainless one under warranty before they catch a lawsuit when someone’s quick disconnect smacks them in...

FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

Things are already not off to a great start with my DRS purchase. Decided to have it shipped to work so I wouldn’t have to take a day off to sign for it. We closed almost 3 hours ago and here I sit waiting for it. This thing better be worth it and not a pill.

RTI Just me? RTI Prophet II & cycling

You are dealing with a RPB barrel. Chambering a pellet or slug can have some notchy resistance. These guns are made well enough that you don’t have to handle them with kid gloves. Close the cocking lever like you mean it. You are wrecking the insides of your gun firing it with the cocking lever...

FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

I seriously doubt that anyone who’s selling these guns finds the plateau then backs it down 3-5. If it had fun knobs, maybe. So as the new owner it’s time to pull it out of the stock and find the plateau speed. Then see where the factory had it set. If they had it set a 4-5% below, there is hope...

    Slug accuracy thoughts

This is common also. Guys just don’t talk about it. It seems a lot of guys would rather try to buffalo the masses into believing they have a MOA all day every day gun. Most don’t.

    Why Such Explosive Damage?

It just depends on where the rupture first occurs that determines how the parts fly. You probably aren’t getting much more expansion on a small bird than you would get shooting at a wet ball of cotton. But as that large projectile for the mass off the animal enters the body and cavitation...

Anyone convert FX Impact MK2 .22 calibre to .25 calibre?

While most FX guys on the forum love to support and encourage what FX markets, never leave your gun alone/grass is always greener, I will continue to encourage guys to leave a good slug gun alone. I have a long standing theory. I see lots of guys bragging about their slug guns. Then I see them...

FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

My walnut DRS should be here tomorrow. If I become a member of the first slow shot club and can’t remedy it, the gun will join the classifieds club. I plan to hunt with it. I have a bunch of guns that don’t have the first slow shot blues. Some of them seven years old or older. Absolutely no...

    Why Such Explosive Damage?

A slug has nothing on a Polymag out to a Polys maximum effective range. Nothing. Polymags are bad news on animals if you have a barrel that likes them.

    Why Such Explosive Damage?

When we shoot small frail things with our airguns, cavitation occurs. When they explode from cavitation, that determines the direction the parts fly. I don’t think you’ll be sending a groundhog out of frame with a measly 100fpe. Small things just go pop when hit with large projectiles.

Anyone convert FX Impact MK2 .22 calibre to .25 calibre?

It seems for now that you have a place that always has coyotes. That place will always have them unless he poisons them. So if you think you are not in jeopardy of loosing that hunting spot, a coyote gun may not be a bad investment. Even a used Impact that is already a .30 might not be a bad...

Anyone convert FX Impact MK2 .22 calibre to .25 calibre?

Max, if you’re going to have a coyote gun, make it a .30. My wicked M3 .25 slug shooter is shooting 1,048fps. My .30 RTI slugger shooting 900fps is more devastating. If your MKll is a dialed in .22 slugster, don’t mess with it. Enjoy it on critters that are in its wheelhouse. Do some research on...

Fx impact m3 compact .25 Slugs

I personally was never satisfied with my 500mm M3 .25 shooting slugs so I just built a real barrel for it. Settled on a little more than 500mm in length. My M3 .22 500mm was much more cooperative with slug accuracy. Still needed some work to get the consistency I wanted but the .22 is an easier...

Help me understand the reasoning with regards to high end springers

Last year I backed my TX200 HC down a little. I always thought it was the greatest springer I’ve ever shot. It wasn’t. Now it definitely is. I can shoot it better too. So that spells more trouble for what I’m aiming at. It was just a smidge too hot. Big power is nice if it doesn’t come at a...
