Well, less see. I broke my R9 down on Dec. 5 last year with a broken spring. Ordered a Vortex kit and a cocking shoe, still waiting on the cocking shoe to appear.
That wood is kind of special. We cut the walnut trees on the farm in 1962 when we sold the cattle and went into grain farming. It lay in the barn for years before I got the equipment to work it. I made a nice fly tying desk from it also. Still have a nice stack in my shed waiting for another...
I cut two slots in the plastic stock, one at the front an one at the back, to fit large washers. The washer fits in the slots and secures one side of the stock. The other side is secured to the first side with velcro.
At my old house I use to shoot mice in the garage. I made bait stations by drilling a dimple in a 2x4 that I put peanut butter in and mounted a red light to illuminate it. I then sat across the garage using a Crosman 2289G at only two pumps. I got complete penetration and the pellet either...
My R7, it is the only air rifle that I have kept year after year as others came and went. It is just so sweet to plink with and the grand sons would disown me if I sold it.
I hadn't looked at a Daystate in a long time. Noticed it is three inches short an only five ounces heavier than my R7. You and Mr. H are going to cost me a lot of money as i really love the way the R7 handles and carries, just short on power.
I've tried a lot of different target boxes over the years. I finally found that a nice portable and quiet pellet trap is nothing but a large shoe box stuffed with old clothes that I pick up at a second hand store for nothing. I hold it together with packing tape or painters tape, which ever is...
There's a lot of difference between shooting squirrels in the yard and actually going into the woods to hunt them. Walking in the woods is just a way to relax and leave the world behind, shooting a squirrel is a bonus that taste good. Most hunting is not about the kill and the meat, it's an...
I picked up one of these from Harbor Freight for my 74 cubic foot tank. It's a little big but does allow for some foam lining to pad the tank. https://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage-organization/tool-boxes-bags-belts/tool-bags/24-in-tool-bag-with-16-pockets-57351.html
My property backs up to a conservation area that is loaded with squirrels, only problem is that it is shotgun only. I have about 600 feet by 20 feet on my property to shoot them with the pellet rifles, got 23 so far this season but lately they have been staying on the other side of the fence...
I'm old enough to remember when Crisco was the preferred lube. Used FP-10 in some CO2 guns and found it ruined the Buna o-rings, it would soften them and make them swell. Switched to Slick-50 until I decided it wasn't worth lubing pellets any more.
Looks like some great therapy, hope it helps. In my old working days I would come home and take it out on my bicycle, now I much prefer a pellet rifle and a nice quiet spot in the woods. Wish I had a deer stand like yours to sit in.
