Reedmosser convinced me to try this so for the past 2 weeks I collected a toaster oven and powder coat. Took the Bushbuck to the range today and was very satisfied with these. Super slippery, accuracy same as bare lead and a clean barrel when you get home.
I hope it works for you. But it didn't for me in my benchrest accuracy quest. I've tried HBN, moly, tungsten, teflon, and graphite. Treated barrels and pellets. Most increased muzzle velocity. None improved accuracy/precision; in fact they mostly worsened groups. And all but graphite...
...loose fit in the Huben GK1 pistol and fell out when the gun tipped back with gate open. I am going to try another coat and see if it tightens up in the GK1. Will post the size when I add another coat. These dies may work out for several different guns as easy to increase the size by powder...
It's still holding up good, I've shot at least a couple of tins thru it since then. The stuff I used isn't ideal and I coated it with a clear matte spray to protect it. I already had the stuff so I used it. I would think anodizing would hold up really well, or powder coat. Time will tell how...
https://www.facebook.com/share/dBLavxK3gjetJfEa/?mibextid=WC7FNe Just picked up one of these. Same part wolverine 3d printed over. I think it was 68$ and i just might paint it black. I could powder coat it too. Never thought i would see the day I would have a 4500 tank on this gun. Tank...
Interesting. I have an unopened can of black plastidip right next to me…I could try and always peel it off if it doesn’t work. so if I understand correctly, your observation it that it may indeed have worked?
The powdercoating is applied using shake and bake method...coffee container,,, slugs,,,,powdercoating,,,,, shake,,shake,,,dump off excess powder,,,,in the oven at 400 10 -20 min...Ottawa oven in water quench to separate..
Yes powdercoating works. One absolutely huge benefit is never handling lead or lead exposure. I smoke I don't wanna wash my hands every time I handle a slug. It does reduce leading.... If your barrel is absolutely rough no powdercoating won't fix horrible factory barrel.. I hand lapped my...
Sounds like you have the experience it takes to make a big bore pcp accurate!!!! Give powdercoating a try!!!Or buy some slugs already powder coated..It doesn't hurt anything 😀 Keep up the good work
...the vehicle. But everyone was bitching about the paint job and wished it was powder coated. That would cost me more money on the production side. If my painted kayak racks continued to sell to the point I had trouble keeping up with demand, do you think I would even consider powdercoating them?
Tried powdercoating my 105’s today. My only comment is I will have to refine my technique 🤣. Also casted a hundred fifty or so round balls. They mic out at .363. They chamber kind of stiff, but shot well at 35yds. Going to try to go out in the morning and take it out to 50, maybe 75.
....Many different forms of jacket s are used for similar results. No powder burners are wearing out barrels from solid copper slugs. Powdercoating is a Jacket performing similar results to copper jackets at less velocity of course. Powder coat makes your slug more slippery. And of course lube...
I will cross over worlds here from powder burners and mention lanolin as a binder/lube. Aka wool wax. It's sheep's wool oil basically. No idea if it works here but I used to use it for bullet lube when casting for the subsonic powder burner envelope.
I was thinking of getting a Lee APP press for sizeing Airgun Slugs...I can cast five at a time.....I.can powder coat about 10 lbs at a time.. Sizeing the powder coated slugs is the slowest step...Handling each individual slug....I already have the Lee App bushings and bottle adapter.. I.just...
hello; i have taken my sidelever beeman apart to clean the airtube and valve. it appears i was getting powdercoating flaking off and migrating through the power circuit which plugged the rifle. i have cleaned all the parts and polished the powdercoating off the tube cap. pretty sure that...
