My first PCP was a .22 Huntsman. Easy to hand pump, accurate, light weight, quiet. Was one of the only left handed rifles around when I fell into this rabbit hole. Still have it, shoots better than I do.

I’ve noticed that my Maverick PCP shoots the first shot 10-15 fps faster than the rest. What could be reasons for this? Leak in 2nd reg? Cold barrel reducing leakage? Just curious why this might occur….

First off. What type of airgun are you mounting this on? Spring piston, CO2, pump pneumatic, or PCP? If it's a springer, check with the manufacturer if it's springer-rated and make sure they have a good warranty or return/exchange policy. All the other stuff can come later.

Yup. My first pcp was a Hatsan bt65 .25. I thought all pcp rifles shot 3” groups at 30 yards. Until I bought an air force escape and found out I could shoot 1/2” groups with a pcp. Burn me once shame on you. Burn me twice and I’m a sucker.

The barrels of 880s are straw barrels that fit into the front sight bushing in the end of the barrel shroud. You tape the end of the barrel to make it snug in the bushing. Many are a loose fit that allows the barrel to move around.

...I would recommend the .22 over the .25 in that platform! I had one in .25 and not really enough power for the heavier caliber. And shot count was really low too! Great rifle though and an excellent choice for first PCP. I have a older Regal model in .20 cal that's one of my absolute favorites.
