    30-Yard Challenge

Thanks Ed. Actually, the guy who told me the Hades (FX Atomic) would work for targets was ‘you.’ I was pleasantly surprised, but the JSBs, Rangemaster 15.89’s are vg also. Just not as tight as the Atomics. It will be interesting to see if/how the new scope will help with the challenge...

    30-Yard Challenge

This must be the day everyone is shooting. Had the HW100 .22 Carbine out today. Started at 40Y and could not score, and shot 2 cards. A 183 and a 186. The difference in 10y between 30-40y is massive for me at this distance. I think the new Athlon Heras scope will help with my holds. 16X...

    30-Yard Challenge

Ken PM me if you have interest in a used Votex Diamondback 6-24x50 FFP or an Athlon Argos 6-24X50 FFP scope. I bought too many FFP scopes and I am using only 2FP for BR target shooting. Tom

    30-Yard Challenge

Today I ordered a new Benchrest Scope from Athlon. 15-60X56mm Athlon Heras 2FP BLR2 MOA reticle. I can use this for the 30-40y challenges, N50 50y targets or even at 100y. First time ordering from Sheels, but they get them direct from Athlon. I would love a Delta Stryker or Vortex Golden...

    30-Yard Challenge

Truly phenomenal marksmanship, especially with two different rifles and at 40 yards! It’s amazing how precise the accuracy is here at 40y. Marvin, next time you get a chance, can you take a couple of pics of your setup and rifles? I am not familiar with the USFT. Given the wind was 3 mph...

Other Is 15.89 jsb .22 pellet at 930-940 fps enough for Raccoon headshot

Yep, I had a one run away with what I thought was a lethal shot. The pellet bounced off the top of his head. Another time I shot a female and the next day baby raccoons were looking for their Mom. Felt terrible so now they get a pass. I back up to a thick woods, so lots off wildlife. LDP...

    30-Yard Challenge

I reread your last paragraph Jim. I have been shooting the challenge since it’s origin in February 2022. As I reflect back and consider your words, I think you hit the nail on the head. Looking for little improvements and experimenting with different pellets, velocities and tunes; is...

Other Is 15.89 jsb .22 pellet at 930-940 fps enough for Raccoon headshot

Long time ago I shot a couple big raccoons with my Diana Break-barrel .22 340 N-tec. I know the velocity was a couple hundred FPS less than 940 FPS and it was with a 14.66g pellet. Right behind the ear, but at close range at 20 yards. Shot placement is key, like most pests or small game. 31...

N50 at 100 “In The Rings” Slug Challenge

Tim - let me know if your Sightron 45x seems a bit darker at either 50 or 100y. Also, the clicks on using the elevation or windage knobs are not real crisp. I really like Sightron scopes, just curious what you or others reading this thread, think about those two minor points. Perhaps the...

N50 at 100 “In The Rings” Slug Challenge

Hi Tim, thanks. Shooting was so-so for that rifle, esp. without the tuner. I need to play around with light vs. firm shoulder hold a bit. Yes, I can clearly see the holes at 100 yards. I will say that the sight picture is a little darker than I expected, but maybe the sun shade caused that...

Thanks Ed. I did not realize he changed his company name from "919 Airguns." Good to know.

N50 at 100 “In The Rings” Slug Challenge

It has been a while since I have posted N50 'in the rings' 100 yard targets. Today was windy and I brought the Anschutz 1907 .22LR to the range. I did forget my 'tuner' and that's unfortunate because I have the tuner really dialed in for this 100y challenge. Rifle:Anschutz 1907, 54 action...

    30-Yard Challenge

Shot a couple of these Rimfire targets at 30y. A little windy, but it was a nice change of pace. No pressure, no score. 😀 My hold offs were mainly at 2 to 5 o'clock on the 10 ring or just a bit off it. Best wind condition was a tail wind for those holds, so I waited until I saw flag blow...

    Anyone else miss FX USA

Yes, I do miss FX-USA. But, Newman Buck used to work for them and also has his own air gun repair business “910 Airguns.” He fixed and/or tuned my FX Boss .25/.30 and helped me numerous times with FX Chrono and Royale 400 .22 questions. He is excellent technically and I highly recommend him.

FX Still Enjoying My FX Royale 400! What Are You Shooting?

That’s a tough choice. To the extent that ‘service/warranty repairs’ are very important to your decision, AoA is excellent, responsive and knowledgeable especially with Daystate products. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss further.

FX Still Enjoying My FX Royale 400! What Are You Shooting?

Bill, Go with your gut feel. Is there a warranty on the new Royale? PYA uses Air Venturi for rifle repairs, and AV was so-so for me. They had been going through some staffing shortages over the last couple of years, and some AGN members had some responsiveness issues. Perhaps now they...
