Not at all. The ground squirrels, quail, thrushers, and dove are all very picky eaters and always leave the lead behind. I appreciate it, too because I cast pellets and bullets so all the spent lead goes in the pot.

If what you’re looking for is an accurate, tough, no nonsense hunting break barrel that will take a pounding, it’s hard to beat a Diana 34. They’re heavy but they check all those boxes. I’ve got a 36 (fancy 34) that’s decades old and still on the original piston and seals. Same with a 48 and 52...

JC, I dropped my 98 .20 into the exact same stock! I used the old 98 stock to house a 95 .177 and boy, what a nimble little rifle that turned out to be! I recommend it if you’ve got a 95 laying around!

I have recently adopted this procedure as well. While I’ve never had an accident with an air rifle (notice I included “air” in my description 😐), I’d like to eliminate any user error where I can!

I have an HW98 .20 in a CSUK walnut thumbhole stock that is absolutely beautiful. It really handles well. Jps2498, we’d all love a picture of your TX in that stock as well!
