N/A Break barrel for Survival Hunting Bugout

IMHO, low-power .177 cals are for the well-fed times when you have the option of staying home close to the fridge, or going out for some huntin' recreation. Having pristine optics, taking your sweet rested time for those shake-free brain shots, level blood sugar and all. In a survival type...

    HW/Weihrauch HW 50 s Finally Broken In

Highly debatable. The mainsprings I've fitted have been a total crapshoot as to how they fit a certain rear guide. Name brand aftermarket springs sold as drop-in replacements can drop onto an OEM guide without any contact. And they definitely buzz. A high-dollar aftermarket spring can be either...

    HW/Weihrauch HW 50 s Finally Broken In

The HW95L .22 I had never got any better from the twangy, buzzy, jumpy, noisy, loud, restless state it was straight off the factory. Most of my spring guns have gotten drastically better-behaving from a 1 000+ pellet break-in, without a drop in performance. So much so that the difference between...

    HW/Weihrauch HW 50 s Finally Broken In

Pretty hard, actually, from a mass production point of view. Mainsprings made to be the same aren't anywhere near, when it comes to guide fit. The mass-produced guides themselves aren't identical, so, spring / guide fit is a mess to begin with, and hand-fitting is REALLY expensive. So, they...

HW/Weihrauch I think this 1974 HW30 may need some attention...

Whoah! The piston looks like it had been dropped into a fire pit. I've cracked many a old springer open but never seen quite something like that.

Hatsan Hatsan .30 cal Carnivore died

A H135 mainspring cut that much may drop the ME down to the teens. A chrono would / will tell.

Diana Diana 52 .177 pellet size?

Pellet fit and weight are two different things. Or, let's ask first what do you mean by fit? It usually denotes how well the pellets chamber, ie. are they easy to load or need a heavy push or two, or do they drop in without any resistance or go snugly and smoothly? A light pellet can be hard to...

    HW/Weihrauch What a difference a seal makes.

Some ways into my springer fixin' journey I learned piston seal fit can give or take 100 fps just like that, and that springer bore figures such as "26mm", or "28mm", are little more than approximations, as incredible as that sounds. Your gun can actually have a 25.8 or a 28.9mm bore, which...

Diana Diana N-Tec; Anyone still using one?

The anatomically horrid cocking stroke inherent in gasram guns is the biggest reason for me to not have one. It messes up my shoulders, even though I have zero trouble cocking the heaviest coilspring guns around. Just yesterday I took 35 quick chrono shots with my 30 fpe Hatsan 135, no problem...

    Beeman I couldn't resist 🤪(Update it's finally here)

Is that right? Exact .20 cals (13.73gr.) produce 19.5 fpe at 800 fps. To get down to 15 fpe, the Exacts should do only 700 fps. At 800 fps the pellets would need to weigh only 10.6gr. to keep at 15 fpe. So, do you recommend taking the HW80 .20 cal all the way down to 700 fps, to a HW95 level?

    Umarex Synergis Elite.177

A whole bunch of big questions! I'll take a stab at it. Fixed barrel vs. break barrel has been discussed to the ground several times, in many places. There is no truth. Field Target competition is the most accuracy-demanding spring gun arena. Break barrels are almost non-existent on the podium...

    kral arms N series springers

Good to hear about those accurate Kral barrels. Years ago I bought a N-07 .25 cal in walnut. It was the roughest new gun I've ever handled, with tooling marks, incredibly noisy cocking, flimsy feel, a breech seal that looked like it was smashed to leakage already etc. I wasn't keen on the...

Diana Scope and mount for Diana Mod 48/52

Sidelever Dianas are hard on scopes and mounts. The most surefire way to scope 'em is to get an accurized Diana ZR mount from Hector Medina. This spring-loaded mount enables you to use most any scope, but isn't repeatable enough as is, hence the accurization (which can be done at home, as well)...

N/A What is considered the “best”

If we wan't to go the route of naming single guns that are "considered the best", let's consider this: TX200's are very heavy guns, clocking in at around 4.1kg / 9lbs., unscoped. That is unacceptable to many airgunners. TX200's utilize an underlever cocking system that many people find...

N/A What is considered the “best”

There is no spring gun that is considered the best, let alone is the best. That's because every springer in production, now or in the past, has advantages and disadvantages that different people feel about differently, due to size, proportions, age, strength, preferences, experiences, use...

    Tuning Paul Watts

The D54 is pretty singular in being a high power platform while also among the most accurate springers ever produced. That's the reason I had to get one, and I'm really happy I did. The D54 is also appreciably more complex than most other springers. More potential for mess ups, more things to...

Diana Diana Model 52 used price

IME, sidelever Dianas are definitely .22 cal guns. They actually shoot at the accuracy limit velocity in that caliber, being as efficient as they are. Everything about them works best in that caliber. That being said, thousands of .177 cal sidelever Dianas see heavy action and bring home game...

    Diana Diana 250 accuracy issues

I wouldn't think of trying a new springer, German or Chinese, for accuracy before at least a large tin of pellets was put through the gun. German springers start to really sing after a couple thousand pellets (when breaking in a factory spec gun). I haven't broken in Chinese guns such as the...

Beeman Does anybody NOT not like .22 HW barrels?

So far, 100% of my Weihrauch .22 cals have been inaccurate, ranging from so-so to unusable. It's too bad, since I like the .22 caliber by far the best, as per loading, shot cycle, muzzle report & terminal ballistics, just as much as I find the .177 cal lacking in each. I've had zero trouble with...

Diana Diana N-Tec; Anyone still using one?

I don't do gasram guns, due to multiple reasons, but as far as they go, an N-Tec would be a fine choice. They are typically highly accurate and pretty dependable, well above the gamos and crosmans of the same powerplant style.
