Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

MOA at 50 yards is 1/2”. It happens, but not consistently for me. I will take the blame for that.

Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

I’m in Dexter. Been enjoying the recent weather!

Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

I am a fan of SportsMatch rings, I use them on both airguns and rimfire. I have used BKL on 13 mm rails, and they work well also. The scope is an older Bushnell 4-16 Elite from Japan.

Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

I am just a recreational shooter at this point so minor shifts in POI with distance are more a matter of curiosity than anything else. I have done the mirror alignment thing in the past to make sure the elevation adjustment was aligned with the bore. That did seem to help in at least one...

Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

If you want you can overlay these groups to see what a twenty shot group from a cold rifle would look like. I agree, five shot groups don’t tell you much, but in this case I wanted to show changes as the rifle warmed up. When working up loads for centerfire I do shoot ten shot groups and find I...

Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

It was a TX200HC tuned down to around 11 ft-lb. I didn’t warm up the rifle or re-zero for this session as you might for competition. Even for hunting I like to take a shot or two to verify zero before going out. For tiny targets like house sparrows changes in wind conditions can make a...

Air Arms How accurate is a springer- really

Hi all. This is my attempt to answer the age old question of what practical accuracy can be expected from a springer, quirks included. With no wind to speak of and my TX shooting well it seemed like a good time to see what it could do from my favorite position, sitting using a set of old Stony...

    Other The IZH46M Achilles Heel

I agree that except for the hole to hole distance this should be an easy part to make with simple tools. Here is a link to a source for 4142 prehardened alloy steel. Strong, needs no further heat treatment, and at 30 Rc can still be sawn, filed and drilled...

    FWB Some 10 meter fun

FWIW, the iris with adjustable rear optic gave me less clarity than what I could get with the iris alone. I use a standard iris drilled out to 1.3 mm for shooting 10m offhand. Seems less sensitive to eye position than the standard 1.1 mm. Chuck

    Other The IZH46M Achilles Heel

Per my friend the high-end gunmaker, he would make a new link from 4140 pre-hardened flat stock, which is available ground to precise thickness (gage stock). He also believes welding to be possible, but would require heat treating to obtain full strength, plus straightening and grinding and just...

    HW/Weihrauch HW30 Vortek Tuning Question

I also discovered that the Vortek seals require some time to produce their final velocity. In my case my HW 55 went from an initial velocity of around 620 fps to 680 fps with RWS 8.2 after shooting several tins of pellets. I was warned by Tom at Vortek that this would happen, but of course...

    HW/Weihrauch HW 55

Looks like there is a flat for anti-rotation. The lever could be stuck because the flat on the lever is not lined up with the flat on the shaft. If that is the case, tap the lever to line the two flats up before trying to remove or push the lever back on. You definitely don’t want to force the...

    Beeman Old pellet tins

Anybody else save old pellet tins? I did because I thought they might come in handy for storing small items, but now they offer a window into the early days of “adult airguns” in the US. They are also a testament to the marketing genius of Robert Beeman, with special properties ascribed to each...

    Benjamin New style pumper scope?

Just out of curiosity I spent some time looking for an ultra compact scope that could be fitted to a pumper that would not extend past the receiver, allowing full access to the grip area. I ran across this unusual option, a zero eye relief scope for non-recoiling airguns. Since it can be mounted...

    N/A New cabinet

My last two purchases put me over the brink, a new cabinet was needed that at least was child proof. After looking at all the less expensive gun cabinets, I decided I could get more storage space for less money by modifying a cheap storage cabinet from Amazon. The cabinet I bought was the Yizosh...

N/A Looking to purchase 10M competition air pistols for 4H shooting sports, but new to this forum.

The Crosman Silhouette is probably what you are looking for. Comes without rear sight but can be fitted with scope for silhouette or rear sight for 10 meter. Chuck

    HW/Weihrauch "Easter egg" diopter...

The Anschutz adapter for a Redfield diopter is really cool! Still available I assume? My experience with a post type front sight is that lining up with the bottom of the bull is always a challenge. My technique is to start below the bull then raise until the bull sits on top of the post and...

N/A Winter fun with iron sights

Thanks for the great info! Here is my solution, machine Anschutz inserts to fit the HW front sight. I now have a complete set. The cone shaped clamp does a pretty good job of centering the insert, but I still verify with an indicator.

N/A Winter fun with iron sights

I will chime in here. With the recoilless rifles my POI is the same benched or offhand. With the recoiling springers, even the HW55, I can do a rough sight in from a bag, but have to fine tune from the offhand position. My HW55 targets give you an idea of the difference. Chuck

Sheridan Help with my childhood Sheridan

For inspiration here is my Blue Streak, also a gift from my dad, rebuilt after many years of hard service. Still a good shooter!
