    Pick me a gun

My experience has been that Dianas need tuning and new springs to tame them. They also have a reputation for short spring life, especially the magnums. The HW77 I had was very smooth right out of the box.

    TX200, impressions after 100 shots

I bought mine in 1998, direct from Jim Maccari, with an FT tune. It still produces tight group with a consistent hold.

Daystate Red Wolf .17 Pics & Discussion!!

Nice. I had a Stalker-customized Daystate back in the late 90s.

Any springers still used in FT and HFT

My FT gun is a TX200 tuned to (I think!) 14 ft-lbs by Jim Maccari, back when he was still doing tunes. We didn’t have separate springer categories in the club where I used to shoot, and I regularly beat out a fair number of PCP shooters. Some of the best shooters in the club shot spring guns...

Ever want to sell every PCP? Just go back to tuned springers?

I had a custom Stalker bull pup back in the late 90s, but I got fed up with everything I had to go through to get a SCUBA tank charged, not to mention hauling it around at FT shoots. I do have one PCP Gun today- a Marauder- but I charge it with a hand pump. I bought it specifically for night...

    Moly lube for specific applications

I avoid moly sprays, as it’s too hard to control where it goes, they contain volatiles that can cause problems and attack seals, and you generally only need a tiny dab. A small tube or jar of moly paste will last for years.

    Lets see your home range

The home indoor official Olympic 10m range ;-). Outdoors I have maybe 30m, and beyond that I have to travel elsewhere.

    New Old Timer

Just joined the forum. I’ve been shooting airguns since I wandered into my local sporting goods store in 1978 and the clerk said “I’ve got something you’ll like” and handed me a Beeman R7. I’d read about quality European pellet guns, but they were always more than I could afford. So was this...

New Member Introduction with lots of questions

You’d think break barrel guns would be less accurate, and perhaps they are, but if the mating surfaces and bearings are well machined, the difference is very small. For many years 10m competition was ruled by the HW55, a break barrel gun. My most powerful spring gun is a Theoben Sirocco that’s...

    New member with questions

True, the Gamo is not of the same quality as your old Diana, and the cheap scopes included with inexpensive rifles aren’t known for their ruggedness. Good spring guns are another story. Some years ago I sold my old TX200, which I’d used in FT competition, to a friend. Five years ago I bought...
