You are correct about that. Time and money spent will tell what I think of it.

That's good to know. The LW barrel I'm installing is going to be slightly smaller too. I'd prefer to run a shroud since I'm adding some length to both the barrel and air tube with the XL plenum. Adding a moderate would just make this gun extremely long. Still a not as long as my Gauntlet though...

How does that kit mount on? The stock shroud uses only one grub screw, which irritates me. Does the Air-fective kit mount better? And is it worth the high cost in your opinion?

So I promised pics. I was going to tinker with it but am impromptu night with kiddo caused different priorities. I managed to get pics of the springs, poppet, and the Xtreme spring housing. Oh, and I got my Yong Heng! Now I need a weekend that's not filled with work or kids with short attention...

How long did you make your barrel? I plan on 20in but have thought about 24in. You're right that it would probably ruin the look and feel of it. I was a little hesitant myself to post here because of the same reasons. I did try posting on GTA but for whatever reason it would never post. FB has...

I need to get a picture to add but, I was able to find a spring that I *think* will work. It's still tight in the Xtremes bore; however, I think a little lapping compound would clean that up just enough. I will get a pic after work this afternoon. The spring was $1.29 before WA's cut. Not bad. I...

LOL that comes with a price, as you saw in the picture. I have been a tinkerer and learner all my life. I was the kid that took the toaster apart to learn. Made Mom VERY mad hahaha. Now I have grown into a gorilla. But in all honesty, because of all the tinkering and mechanic-ing I have done all...

I seem to remember reading a thread that you mentioned turbulent air being the norm in these guns. That makes a lot of sense since it is such a small amount of time that the valve is open and the air has to travel through and around quite a few objects. Thank you for helping me learn! I guess...

That was the information I didn't get to in my looking. So, aside from less air obstruction, what's the benefit of no spring?Seems like the spring does a good job of regulating the poppet dwell time.

Thank you for having a looksee for me! I actually ended up ordering that same poppet you did last night lol. Now it's down to a spring. But, like you tried, I was thinking about maybe running it without a spring to see how it will work. I was reading everything I could find on poppets yesterday...

These springs I've seen but they will be too light of a tension. The valve spring is very very heavy. The poppets look promising

That was a great video lol. I don't know if I'll be able to pull that off or not. If I had a lathe I'd be able to make my own poppet, among other things. Crap

That's not a horrible idea. I wonder how much tension the spring would lose doing that? I may muck about with that idea tonight, thank you!

I don't look at that as bad news. If it doesn't shoot slugs but will shoot pellets well, I think that's still a win. My gun is just so bad, even at 20yds. But I love this little thing so much. It looks the business and doesn't weigh much at all. I know I'm polishing a turd but, I'm OK with that...

I think I will try that. But I'm am really crossing my fingers that @socaloldman can find a poppet and save me a headache. I'd rather experiment when I have the ability to go backwards lol. Here's what really gets me. I just ordered a LW barrel to have A.E. Swede swap on to this thing. Bah lol

Dang, thank you for helping me learn here! I wondered about the taper on this poppet being a pain to shape. I like your "caveman tool" remark. That's exactly what it would have to be at this point lol. Would delrin be easier with my hack tools? I am only asking to learn.

I didn't even think about making a spring. Great idea if I can't find one, thank you!

Well, the plenum was assembled when I received it. There is a piece on the new plenum that looks JUST LIKE the stock plenum (circled in red). Where the spring sits, the new plenum had a smaller I.D. I simply thought that I was battling heavy spring tension and forced it to go together. Like I...

I haven't been to an Ace yet. My concern is that it is a conical spring approximately 2in X 1/2in bottom O.D. X 1/4in upper I.D. and is very heavily tensioned. McMaster-Carr has nothing like this that I have found. My search for a generic replacement spring hasn't ended yet. However, I am...
