For a proper tune, you need to take out the regulator.

N/A Lightweight pcp for squirrel hunting

This is my sub-30-meter rodent gun. Not too lightweight but it's very compact. This is a .25 caliber but I have it tuned to 25 FPE. Considering differences in projectile BC's, this gun has very similar FPE on target at around 20-30 meters as my .22 gun tuned to 32 FPE at the muzzle. Velocities...

FX Tuning to the knee… or maybe not?!

The gun will be very efficient with high reg pressure and very short dwell time. Some people and some guns are ok with this in terms of accuracy over some arbitrary distance for the type of shooting they do. In my case however, I didn't have good luck with it. I have the Taipan Veteran which is...

    Tuning .177 vs .22 shotcount

I've used both .25 and .22 calibers Taipan Veterans. The larger caliber is definitely more efficient with air usage. Tuned to the same FPE, the .25 caliber was getting 50% more shots on the regulator compared to the .22 caliber. On the other hand, tuned to the same reg pressure, the .25 was...

    My first groundhog

With pesting in the yard, I learned that if an animal keeps coming back out, it's only a matter of time until I finally get it. I always kick myself when I take a less than ideal shot and let an animal get away wounded. So nowadays, I'd rather wait days, sometimes weeks, to get as perfect shot...

    My first groundhog

I got my first groundhog last week. This is the first one I've seen on our property but I wasn't about to wait until it fully establishes itself near our house. It took 12 days from the first time I saw it until the kill shot. I've had it in my scope sights a couple of times prior but I just...

    Taipan Vet 2??

I believe they got to the USA around September or October 2023. That's around the time Talon Tunes started posting photos of the guns on Facebook.

Daystate Delta Wolf - Why isn't it more popular?

I almost pulled the trigger on one a few times. The real deal breaker for me were the reports that the gun resets the software every time it is powered off and back on... needing a few shots to get back to the desired FPS. That was a few years ago and I don't know if they've ever fixed that.

N/A The most shots per fill....

I've tuned my Taipan Veteran Short .25 caliber to 25 FPE. It gets around 80 to 90 shots on the regulator.

Other Why so many .25 cal. for sale?

I'll be one to admit that I went from Taipan Veteran .22 to Taipan Veteran .25 "just because". The vast majority of my shots are on chipmunks and squirrels within 35m. And for that, the .22 is more than enough. However, in the 4 years I owned the .22, I just couldn't seem to get the .25 out of...

    Taipan Fit Moderator to Barrel

I've done this in the past with my Veteran 1 Long. The Tanto and the Koi will thread directly on to the barrel and have clearance from the air cylinder. You just have to make sure that you get the 1/2 x 20 endcap. Having said that, I have eventually gone back to the stock barrel shroud. Even the...

FX The outrageous cost of High quality airguns WOW

I just got into kites a few months ago. Yes, kites that kids fly. I thought "an innocent and cheap hobby". Now, I'm spending $100 and $200 on "beginner" kites.

Taipan New Slash videos posted by Taipan on YouTube

I was just watching the new videos on the Slash posted by Taipan. The gun is much more involved taking it apart compared to the Veterans, but at least you don't have to disassemble the Slash to adjust the regulator. Also, I don't know anything about semi-auto guns but with a hammer gun, we are...

    Tuning Regulator Question

If it was my, I will definitely turn down the external regulator closer to the Huma Air. Probably around 50 bars higher, so 200 sounds good.

    Taipan Type One Taipan's...A Testimonial.

From my experiences with the .22 Long and Standard, take a tune that you're comfortable with your Standard and add about 5 FPE for that same reg pressure in the Long. My .22 Long was shooting about 31 FPE at 100 bars reg pressure while my Standard .22 was shooting 27 FPE with the same reg pressure.

Tuning Taipan Compact .25 - lead free - sub 15 fpe

From what I've found, the Taipan Veterans don't really like being run at regulator pressures below 100 bars. Yes, you can tune it down that low but my experience is that the accuracy suffers by quite a bit. When I had my Veteran .22 Standard, at 100 bars, it was shooting the JSB Hades 15.89gr at...

    Taipan Slugs in a .25 Vet 1 S

As far as I know, the Veteran 1 .25 from a few years ago had LW barrel with tight chokes. The more recent ones have unchoked CZ barrels. I'm not sure when they made the transition but guns from the last half of last year have the CZ barrels according to Taipan. The type of barrel you have might...

.25 caliber at 32 FPE not enough?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I will leave the gun as is for now. I have another Veteran, a Standard .25, that is tuned to 45 FPE. I'll start using it more as I gain confidence with the Short 32 FPE.

.25 caliber at 32 FPE not enough?

I'm quite certain that I hit one just under the ear probably level with the eye and the other one just behind the head. I'm attaching videos of both shots. Both times, when I turned off the video, I thought for sure that they were done for.
