Raccoon. FX Impact .25 MKII 700mm. 46 grain H&N slug heavy driven to 925 fps for 87 ft-lbs. Heart Lung shot killed him, but I still put another one in him as a follow-up. I have since switched to a 500mm, .22 barrel for coon. It's shooting a 23 grain Nielsen at 950-1000fps.

One of the most accurate I've ran in my FX Impact .25 700mm was the Nielsen 33.5g flat base at 950. Mine has the slug power kit and a superior heavy slug liner. I now run a 46g H&N heavy at 925fps. It is still very accurate but hits as hard as just about anything will in this platform.

I'm gonna go with 46 grain .250 H&N heavy slugs driven to about 925. They hit very hard and stack on top of each other at 50 yards.

Yeah my ATN does the "one shot zero" but in reailty is it at least 3 and the ballistic calc saves a lot of lead and air!

Its a standard pellet liner, I did some testing this afternoon with the 23 grainers. 1/4" group at 40 yards running 1004 fps. I can't argue with that accuracy. I bumped the reg up to 170 bar so that I could get a shorter pop and a quieter gun while still retaining the velocity

Thanks! Ive only shot about a dozen raccoons. Only recovered one but that was the .25 setup shooting 46 grain H&N slugs at 925. It still took two body shots to achor him. I prefer body shots because it is a bigger target and less likely to mess it up... at least for me.

I prefer pass throughs as I am more sure that the round will ultimately make it to, and destroy, the vital organs I was aiming at. For PB guns I shoot exclusively barnes bullets for that reason. Thats the reason I wanted to go a little heavier, esure a deadly kill shot. The raccoons I am going...
