New to HFT and looking for advice on Pellets

I've competed in HFT for a long time. If you just want to play and try what you have using 22cal then use the lightest pellet that is accurate. If you want some success and really start knocking down targets the majority use .177 and 10.3gr pellets at 880-900fps. Anything else is just exercise...

    Results Benchrest is perplexing

So to give background I have been competing in WFTF and HFT for about 20yrs now. Have a lot of experience off my knee and bucket and sticks. The long range game intrigues me(100yards with pellets) Enter Long range FT. I shoot FT with a TM1000 .177cal so I purchased an HM1000X .22cal for 100yard...

Barricade Stop aka Verticle grip aka place to stop the sticks

Add a scope ring (any size) to the bottom of the RAW pic adapter and you have a nice stop Jerry L.

Barricade Stop aka Verticle grip aka place to stop the sticks

From experience need to get that right elbow on your right thigh. I use a turkey seat. It's about 6-8 inches off the ground. Obviously body geometry comes into play with my suggestions. Jerry L

RAW Rapid RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

What reg pressures are you guys running for .30cal? If I may ask, what reg pressures are you running for the .30cal? Thanks

RAW Rapid RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

Curious, are they polygon LW barrels or traditional LW barrels? Both my HM1000x .22cal and TM1000 .177cal are polygon and I really like them.

RAW Rapid RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

The 20.07gr JTS pellets were a big surprise to me after the dissappointing results of the JSB's.. If it makes a difference I believe I have a polygon barrel and it's throwing them at about 980fps with good accuracy.

RAW Rapid RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

Tom After reading the responses here I think there may be a .30 in my future. Because of illness I haven't competed in awhile but long range FT has intrigued me for awhile. I purchased the HM1000x .22cal before I got sick with the intent of using it for long range FT(out to 100yds) But plans...

RAW Rapid RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

Tom I've thought about the probe and barrel swap idea. Did internals have to be changed(springs) ? Did you have to increase reg pressure as well? Funny thing about my .22. Martin sent it tuned to me for JSB 25.39 at 965fps. I've heard that is common. I've never been impressed, tried all the...

RAW Rapid RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

I've become a big fan of shooting a gun within the parameters of it's design. I've spent way too much over the yrs experimenting with "upgrades." Which leads me to a caliber question. I have a .22 cal HM1000X and would like to toy with a larger caliber. This is for punching paper and accuracy...

    Nightforce scopes NX8 or ATACR

Bought an NX8 yrs ago used at a good price. I figured a NF scope would be the cats meow. I like it, it has clear glass and relatively light weight. It's depth of field past 45 yrs is just ok and I have to be very methodical to get somewhat repeatable ranges. I pulled it off my regular FT rig...

RAW Rapid Are higher powered PCP's more difficult to shoot accurately?

Your tune can make it jumpy. If the reg is set higher then necessary and or you are pushing more air than you need for a particular projectile weight and velocity, ie not efficient. The gun is going to be jumpy. I have an HM1000x .22cal tuned to about 48ftlbs and I would not describe it as jumpy...

    Is this a HW98?

HW98 has a barrel shroud and adjustable cheek piece. Looks like an HW95 to me.
