The check valve on mine started leaking. I just rebuilt it using a Capt Oring kit. Another place is the regulator. If it leaks down to a certain psi and just stops it the regulator. Also check out the gage. Mine ended up leaking.

Just because you've increased the reg pressure doesn't mean you're going to get more power. The hammer has to hit the exhaust valve hard enough to open it. From what I've read you've over powering the hammer.

Did you drill a hole in the air tube to corispone to the hole in the side of the reg? Reg need to be vented to the atmosphere pressure otherwise it's just going to end up being what ever pressure that is in the tank. Did you get instructions on how to install it.
