To help you a bit more, it would be good to know several facts about the intended use of the airgun:

How far will you be shooting?

How loud or quiet does the gun need to be?

What are you targeting: paper, small pests, larger pests? This impacts the caliber need that you might have.

How much can you afford for the package of gun, scope, mounts, and pellets?

Can you handle a 10lb rifle? Or, should you get a lighter one?

Now, for my recommendation: I've bought four rifles initially to find the ONE that does it all. Now, all four of mine work; three better than the fourth. One is still too heavy; one is plagued by being more pellet picky, hold sensitive, and having a less-than-ideal trigger (guess what, it's my cheapest purchase, and I can kill pests with it out to 28 yards).

So, if I got a redo–I'd call Mike Melick at Flying Dragon Air guns and either buy a $400 R9 or have him do a full tune on the Diana 34 clone there. The latter costs about $300 +/-.

Or, I'd wait for a great discount and buy new from PA or Airgun Depot. What to get? Well, that's your call.

Have fun and be safe,
