20fps or less is ideal.  If you've got your gun tuned properly (meaning: in balance, harmonious, not wasting air, shooting mostly with the reg pressure opposed to the force of the hammer)… then typically the best way to reduce ES is by weighing your pellets. 

If you wanna squeeze every bit of accuracy out of your gun then your looking at: washing, sizing, weighing, and inspecting/sorting your pellets.  A tedious, boring, and anything but fun task.  While weight generally affects your vertical POI the most.  Sizing & sorting will also help tighten up your horizontal POI (and fliers).

FWIW – my Redwolf HP shoots +/- 20 fps ES with straight from the tin pellets.  After washing, weighing, sorting (sizing isn't necessary with the .22 Redesigns) I can get my ES down to single digits.
