Barrels tend to be pretty dirty when new, but that doesn't mean you can't shoot it. Cleaner barrels do tend to shoot better after shooting out the cleaning fluid residue 10+ (could be much more) shots,  after cleaning.Same thing as 'leading in the barrel'.

I use a 'mop' on a mine, on a cleaning rod. Much easier, but I won't get info whether it's safer for the barrel then a pull through.

Don't have much experience with AA pcp rifles but I think its a manual safety (you'll have to chose to engage it). Diff than a springer.
