Mine stabilises in the low to mid-fifties, depending on the season and ambient temperature. If you use a large enough bucket, more than 3 gallons, you shouldn't need to change the water. If it goes over 65 and the water Isn't very hot, I would be finding out why. With mine, the temperature rises quickly but once it hits it's operating temperature, it doesn't get any hotter.
